This is, actually, correct. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states quite clearly that receiving Eucharist once a week is all that is needed. There is nothing that states that you must go on a Sunday. Even in the Commandments, it only states that you "Keep Holy the Sabbath Day". It doesn't say how. I attend Mass every day. I do not, however, go on Sunday. I find it disconcerting when the Church "invites" you to attend Mass on Sunday and then tells you that if you don't attend, you have committed a sin. I go to Mass because I choose to go and because I find it enjoyable, not because I am made to feel guilty if I don't.
yes, that is what i thought, my grandmother has been president of the Legion of Mary for about 35 years and she is STRICT about following the rules and she says 1/week is the protocol.

We still go every week. And like Stacey, we will attend twice tomorrow. Our church (part of the Diocese of Rockville Center) sent a notice saying that we are obligated to go twice.
Sunday morning mass fulfills the last mass of the advent season. Sunday evening mass for Christmas.
My mom said at 5:00 mass this evening they were reminded that both the 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas are TWO separate and distinct holy days of obligation.

Nope. I no longer want to be a part of an organized religion although I do consider myself to be a spiritual person. I'll be adding this to my list of why I don't want to be affiliated with the Catholic church. I don't really think there should be any sort of obligations and people shouldn't attend church because they feel obligated, but because they want to be there.

I feel so bad, I used to go every sunday growing up, even in my teen years.. 
I really want to keep my kids involved in the church. I have taken them to sunday school classes and vacation bible school in the summer, so they are exposed to it, but not as much as Id really like.

No i do not go to worship, instead i donate my money and time to many good causes and organizations.
To me volunteering my time to help others is more productive than listening to someone speak for an hour.
Although im sure going to church can be very uplifting to me i dont feel like anything is being accomplished.

I agree!
I do not go to a Catholic Church but a Methodist Church. I will be attending 2 services tomorrow not because I HAVE to but because I WANT to. I don't HAVE to attend any of them if I don't want to.
We do try to go most Sunday's but especially in the summer there are many weeks we are not around to go.

no. i ony go to church when i need to- as in a wedding etc.
since recent events in the church it have turned me off to many aspects of the religion
i agre with above poster- im trying to do more volunteer work and that definitely gives me a good feeling about myself

I dont think thats very nice of your friends to think its weird that you go.
I am ashamed to say that DH and I dont go although we really should. We have discussed going back of course when we have children.
I so agree with you!!! Well, for DH and I we attend Church on Saturdays sometimes not all the time. Now we are thinking of going back to church the way we should. We feel that we cannot keep living like this we need to start attending church on a regular.

We used to when I was younger and we were in Catholic School. Then it sort of trickled off....
I'd like to start going again when we have children - I love the sense of community it creates!
