Do you still go to Church every Sunday?
...or to your particular place of Worship?
My friends think its weird that I still go every Sunday. So I wanted to see if I was in the minority or a majority.
And if you still go every weekend, do you plan on carrying that tradition on with your kids?

I try. I'll goto Mass every Sunday for a while then I fall out of the habit and start up again months later.
ETA: I definitely will bring my children every week.

We don't...I think we might if we have kids to get that sense of community. No one I know my age still goes every week.

we try to go as often as possible, my daughters go to catholic school so it is really important for us to instill the same impotance in church as their school does, their homwork sheet says "go to mass sat or sunday", they talk about the scriptures on Monday morning in class so I don't want my kids ot feel unprepared. i love it, I've alwasy gone, since I was an infant.

really? i'm just going once...i hope that doesnt make me a bad Catholic. lol! DH was funny, he goes "lets just go to midnight mass and that will cover us for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day"...i said no

No. I no longer attend the church (religion) I grew up in.
Two of my four very close friends and most of my relatives do go every week to Catholic mass.

wait, why do you have to go twice? never heard of that.
Since Christmas eve falls on a Sunday your still obliged to go to your regular mass and go to the Christmas Eve mass at 5:30 to fufill your Christmas obligation. Each parish is different. I, nor my DH who was an alter boy, have ever heard of it either, but the monsignor in my church sent out a letter at the beginning of December informing us of it.

We used to, but then when I was pregnant, I would get light-headed during mass every week, so we stopped. We've gone once since Ryan was born. We plan on starting up again.
I read something in our church bulletin about just having to go once this weekend, since Christmas is Monday. I don't think you have to go twice.

No I don't, I am ashamed to say. I was raised Catholic and went all the time with my family but now that I am married we do not go. Actually, we are considering joining the Methodist Church on our corner. They seem so nice and involved and have a lot of community activies.

That would be true.
IT's the same as a Saturday wedding. I remember if it was an am wedding (even with mass) you were still obligated to go to mass on Sunday but if it was a 3:30 pm wedding then you were ok.
Something about receiving the Eucharist after a certain time on Saturday in order for it to count towards Sunday obligation.
Since so many parishes have a regular 5 pm Sunday mass anyway, why wouldn't that count as the Sunday and Christmas obligation?  I guess maybe if the parish doesn't have that or if the mass is earlier it doesn't count towards Christmas.

I NEVER heard of that and I am very involved in my church. Catholicism says that if youi recevie communion 1/week you have fulfilled your obligations, I think your church just wants 2 donation envelopes
as a kid, even if we went to a full mass wedding my Mom considered us "clear" for our weekly mass obligation.

I was brought up going every sunday, I was also in the church youth group, folk group (choir) as a child, the children's choir,my senior year I even volunteered to be a religion instructor for first graders, I was very involved. I went away to college and basically stopped going, even though it was a small Catholic School that held mass right on campus... I am ashamed to say that we do not go ... once we have children I hope that they can be as involved as I was

From what I understand, stayjohn is correct. You are obligated to go twice (on Sunday and on Christmas -- whether Christmas Eve or Christmas Day). But it may vary from diocese to diocese. Some diocesan bishops may issue a dispensation.

Nope. I don't believe in organized religion.
I grew up in a Catholic family though, and went every Sunday until I was confirmed. It was sporatic after that.

yeah, i was actually insulted when they said i was "weird" for going every sunday. and these were kids that i used to go to Catholic school with! i go not cause i have to but because i want to. i guess they think its not "cool" to go to Church. to each his own...

Our parish, which is the church in which we were married, is small. Really small. As in, the pastor asks if we're OK if we miss a week.
We go as often as possible, but we haven't had perfect attendance over the past few months.

This is, actually, correct. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states quite clearly that receiving Eucharist once a week is all that is needed. There is nothing that states that you must go on a Sunday. Even in the Commandments, it only states that you "Keep Holy the Sabbath Day". It doesn't say how. I attend Mass every day. I do not, however, go on Sunday. I find it disconcerting when the Church "invites" you to attend Mass on Sunday and then tells you that if you don't attend, you have committed a sin. I go to Mass because I choose to go and because I find it enjoyable, not because I am made to feel guilty if I don't.
