Do you sleep on the same floor as DC?

We live in a 4 bedroom house with 2 rooms downstairs and 2 upstairs. We are currently using the 2 downstairs rooms as ours and DD's. Of the two upstairs rooms is a proper guest room and the other is used as a laundry room.

I was thinking of moving our room upstairs and using the 2nd downstairs rooms as more of a playroom/office.

Does anyone sleep on separate levels? I know in some situations it may be unavoidable. I don't necessarily have to but it would be nice for DD to have the space. She is 18 months if that makes a difference.

I have a cape with two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. My husband and I sleep downstairs and my girls sleep upstairs. Everything works out fine. I have two baby monitors in case there are any issues.

Are all the rooms the same size? Could you totally flip the floors and have your and her bedroom upstairs and the laundry and guest room downstairs? If you can't I dont think it's a huge deal.

We have 2 up and 1 down. Right now we are all upstairs but when we have a 2nd child the kids will be up and we will be down.

Personally, I would not feel comfortable being upstairs and my kids being downstairs. I'd rather them up and us down.

We have two up and two down and we use the first floor rooms as an office/guest room and the other as a playroom.

I have a cape with two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. I am downstairs with a playroom next to us and my son is upstairs. New baby will also be upstairs

We just moved bc we could not make it work for us in our cape with the new baby coming in March. We had 2 brm up and 1 down that we used as a dining room.
I totally was freaked out having both kids on a different floor than us. And sharing the one rm upstairs was nt big enough

Nor at the current moment, however that will be changing soon

We purposely avoided capes for this reason. So yes, we sleep on the same floor. I'm just not comfortable with being on separate floors. But people do make it work. My friend has a cape - 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs. The two kids sleep upstairs and her and her DH sleep downstairs. The second downstairs bedroom is a tv room. It works for them.

One story :) so yep... same floor. We looked at two story houses but the master was always on the ground floor (for the most part) and even without, I just didn't like the idea of lugging laundry up and down floors, listening to her and her buddies run around upstairs, the idea she could hear me come up the stairs if she was up to no good and as a baby the whole scary stairs thing. Plus I am a clutz myself and can fall UP a set of stairs! as a little girl I knocked all the air out of my lungs more than once due to stairs.

Resale value is higher here for one story than two because of heat rising to the second floor, electric bills from the AC and that retirees like one story homes. So .. one story we have.

She sleeps on the other side of the house from us. Our bathroom shares a wall with her bedroom.

Yes, but I never saw the big deal of being on a separate floor. I have never heard of any problems anyone had with it. I would have no problems with it, honestly. Plus it's even better when the kids get older!!!!!!!

No, we're not all on the same floor. We have 2 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs. Our son is upstairs with us and our daughter is downstairs. We haven't had a problem so far. We wouldn't even be able to switch and have them both upstairs since the downstairs bedroom is too small for our bedroom furniture.

We have a 3BR cape & we were upstairs w DS but now we're downstairs & DD will be upstairs w him when we move her to the crib. Honestly, I don't like being on a separate floor from them but we just have to deal w it for now.

We have a ranch so all one floor. I wouldn't really be comfortable with separate floors. If I had no choice I would want them upstairs and we would be on the main floor.

We sleep upstairs and both our kids are downstairs. It's not really an issue because we have a small cape and we can hear them easily from our room.

I have an expanded cape. Kids rooms are downstairs mine is upstairs and the 4th lg bedroom is the playroom. When kids were babies I used the video monitor but now the kids are 6 and 8 yrs old . It works just fine. If you can use an Extra room for a playroom I'd say do it..the rest of my house stays clean and it's great for the kids to have their own space with toys.
