** Do you let your dogs sleep in bed with you?!!!

Lola sleeps in bed with us, NEVER had an accident. When she gets antsy in the middle of the night we let her out and she goes to the bathroom immediately. She goes about 5 hours w/o going outside. However, when I put her in the crate for as little as 2 hours, she pees in it!!! I dont understand. I went to Michaels before to get stuff for my students, I was gone for 2 hours, and when I came back she peed already! What the heck.

My chihuahua does sleep with us in the bed and always has. She never pees in the bed, never has even when she was little. She's had pretty good bladder control always though so maybe she's a strange case. My new puppy sleeps on the floor in his dog bed and every morning almost I wake up and step in a puddle of pee

Maybe our dogs just appreciate the luxury of bed-sleep and don't want to ruin a good thing!!

Brutus sleeps between us with his head on my pillow. LOL

he has never had an accident but sometimes we have to wipe his behind after he comes in LOL

if she is peeing in the crate then usually, it is too big for her. There shouldnt be enough room in there for her to lay on one side and pee on the other. There should be just enough room for her to stand up and turn around.

And no, my dog doesnt sleep in the bed with us b/c he will rip your arm off if you try to move him or disrupt his beauty sleep. that was one of the things we had to stop doing b/c he was becoming too dominant.

Our dogs do but they were not allowed until they were fully crate trained and holding it all night. They were also too small, we were afraid they would fall off the bed or we would roll onto them and crush them.

I agree that the crate is probably too big. I would stick to one or the other though, and not switch it up. I think you'll get better results if you consistently make her go outside, then crate (get a separator for the middle to make it smaller) and get her on that schedule.

To answer the question, no, our dog is not allowed on any furniture.

Yes, our pup does- sleeps at the end by our feet.

He has never had an accident and can last probably 10-12 hours without going out!

Yes Barkley sleeps with us! He spoons! lol.. We usually let him out right before we go to bed. Then he is good for the rest of the night until the AM. I have to wake him like a child lol hehehehehe.

He knows when its bed time. Once he heres the TV shut (it makes sound) he grabs his blanky and runs up stairs with it lol

Uhhh, Cooper lets us sleep in bed with him! LOL.
And he's never had an accident in bed and he rarely has an accident when we leave him home alone (and we gate him in the kitchen, we do not usre a crate).

ETA: Have you tried to gate your dog to one room in your house (like the kitchen, where if he did pee he wouldn't be ruining carpet) instead of using the crate? Cooper hated his crate and no matter how big or small it was, he ALWAYS peed in it.

Yes our 2 poms sleep in bed with us- we have a big bed and they sleep at the end by our feet. One can jump off but the other can't, so when he has to go he barks and we put him down. they use wee wee pads during the night and we let them out when we wake up.

we're looking into doggie stairs so they can just come on and off the bed as they please.

My maltese sleeps with us as well, and never had an accident. She curls next to me or DH, she takes turns leaning on one of us

Schultz used to sleep with me every night, right behind my knees. I miss that!



Zoey, when not recuperating from ACL surgery, will start out in bed with us and then go in her own bed b/c she doesn't like us moving around.

Yup , Shea sleeps with us every night.. then when DH leaves for work in the morning she climbs onto his pillow... its so funny!

Well we don't LET her, but apparently she has other plans. She lies down on the floor, on either side of the bed. Then after we fall asleep she must get up and jump in bed with us because when we wake up in the morning there she is!!!

And she's always on my side so I'm stuck in the middle btw Kevin and her, and she doesn't understand that you're not supposed to lie horizontally across a bed. It's a good thing we've got a King size!!

ETA: Sorry, I didn't read your entire post. Kasey slept in her crate in the kitchen until she was fully house-trained. Then we moved her crate to our bedroom for a while so she could get used to being in there with us. Like I said above she's supposed to sleep on the floor but ends up in the bed; she's never had an accident there.

Mimi and Chico sleep with us every night and they spoon.. they also hog the bed.. I find myself moving them over all night bc they like all the warm spots!!!

On RARE occasion I have let the dogs sleep on the bed if DH is out of town, but generally, no, they sleep on their own little bed in the corner.

Can't comment on the peeing in the crate because we don't crate our dogs. Good luck with that, though!

Capt' Bob sleeps with us in bed and has never have an accident. When he uses to sleep in his crate he used to pee in it and will cry all night until we take him out of it. he can go hours without using the bathroom unless he is in his crate.

hershey is really funny.... sometimes he sleeps with us and other nights he's like screw you guys im going to sprawl out on the couch by myself

Our bed is not big enough for us and 3 dogs so, Sadler & Kasey (Shih Tzu's) sleep with us by our feet. Jackson (Yellow Lab) sleeps on the chaise chair in our bedroom.

Nope! They are not allowed on any of the furniture. They were crate trained and I remember my chocolate would go in hers for awhile. That eventually stopped when she got a little older and bigger (the crate was probably too big for her). Now they go to bed in the office on their beds every night. They freak out if I try to keep them in the bedroom with us

no never, she is 85 lbs and would take up a lot of space!
