Did you register for onesies, tshirts, layette items, etc?
Did you put them on your registry (esp in different sizes for the whole first year) or are you just hoping someone will buy them for you regardless?
The registry checklists seem to say to register for these items, in various sizes, but not sure how many people really do this.

You'll get plenty of clothes, more than the baby will be able to wear.
I would just get the swaddle blankets, sleepsacks, etc.
It's cheaper to buy the clothes on sale at Children's Place or Old Navy's anyway. The baby will only be wearing each piece for a few weeks or months. Why pay or have the gifter pay full price for baby's clothes? :D

Really? Ok. I wasn't sure if I should register for clothing as suggested.
Thanks!

Re: Did you register for onesies, tshirts, layette items, etc?
I put one or two packs of newborn or 0-3 month size onesies on the registry. I don't know if anyone will buy them, but at least I can try to encourage people to buy small sizes. People like to buy clothes, but they tend to buy what they like as opposed to what may be on your registry. Plus, I've heard it's hard to find the clothing items you registered for in the store. After the shower, I'll see what I need and then get the remaining layette items.
ETA: I registered for a few sleep sacks.

We'll take care of the layette ourselves-- or perhaps one of our parents will buy for us... Other than that-- I am just registering for some miracle blankets and sleep sacks...

I just registered for the undershirt type ones (short sleeves, long sleeves, ones with the umbilical cut out.) Anything "clothing" like I figured I'd buy or people would pick out what they liked.

I had very few items of clothing on my registry and got basically NONE of them I got tons of clothes people picked out on their own..people WILL buy clothes-just spread the word that you need gift receipts.

I did, but it seems that people don't tend to buy those items. In my experience, people usually buy non-clothing items off the registry, and if they do buy clothing/layette, they pick stuff on their own.

How many of each sleepsack did you ask for? Did you also ask for lightweight and fleece ones, and various sizes or just newborn?

I registered for 1 sleepsack in every size and I received a small and a large. I only registered for cotton ones because my apartment is VERY warm in the winter. Fleece would have overheated her.
I always recommend registering for everything - especially onesies in 0-3 and 3-6 months. Even if you don't receive them, if you're registering at BRU you'll get a discount coupon in the mail when you buy them yourself. Those little things add up!
And DD's first week home I had to do laundry every 2 days because she'd go through 3 or 4 onesies in a day.
When they get bigger you won't need as many.

I registered for 2 or 3 small sizes mostly in fleece. I also registered for 1 or 2 larger cotton ones.

I did not register for clothes and I still got a ton. Plus if you scan an item now, chances are it wont be in the store when people start shopping. The stores change the displays so often.

My layette was purchased by my MIL, but I put a couple of items on the registry for the heck of it.

I "registered" for a layette in the sense that I selected items and put them aside. MIL and my mom paid for it though, it wasn't available for other people to buy.

Re: Did you register for onesies, tshirts, layette items, etc?
I registered for 2 outfits, and got neither of them!
as for other layette items, I registered and received blankets, swaddle me's, burp cloths....
Frankly, at my shower, I received almost no clothing! I bought most of Scone's clothes myself. Even the grandma's didn't buy clothes! they bought toys, large $ practical items... but no clothes.
IMO, I wouldn't bother putting it on your registry... becuase even with the 10% discount, BRU is much more expensive than marshalls, the carters outlet....

I totally did and I am so glad that I did. I registered for short sleeved and long sleeved onesies - in all sizes (only 1 pack of the newborn though because I had a feeling the baby would outgrow them quickly - and he did). I also registered for the Gerber 2 pack zip up footed sleepers (again, in different sizes) the sleep sacks, and the Gerber undershirts with the side snaps in Newborn and 0-3 size (were perfect for baby to wear while the little belly button stump was still attached). I don't know why you wouldn't register for this stuff - it's money that you would then have to shell out to buy yourself. And those items ALL got bought off my registry quickly!

I registered for one set of onesies. I got tons of clothes at the shower, and even more when she was born. (we didn't find out the sex.)

I actually did decide to register for all the basics today, one of every size from 0-24 mths. I figure put it out there, if someone gets it, great. These items never change in teh store, so they will be there when people shop. It's worth a shot. Thanks!
