BTDT Moms......advice on clothing items to register for please!

I am starting my registry.

2 questions?

1. Swaddling Blankets & Sleep Sacks? Yay or nay? Sizes you recommend if yay?

2. For things like blankets, sleeping stuff, bath things ..........did you register gender neutral if you knew if you were having Chat Icon or Chat Icon ? I was "thinking" of doing that......Thoughts?

Thanks!!

Re: BTDT Moms......advice on clothing items to register for please!

For me the Swaddle Me blankets were a waste, however the MIRACLE BLANKET was a godsend!!! I couldn't do w/o it, I only wish I gotten it sooner. She loved it.

I registered for gender neutral things for the bath b/c we knew what we were having but kept it a secret from everyone else.

As far as clothes go, minimal is key...I cannot even tell you how many outfits, onesies, PJ's we received after she was born....so much she never even wore.

Socks are a must....

Onesies....

Bibs too

Definitely onesies in different sizes, receiving blankets, & burp cloths like the PP said. I use the cloth diaper burp cloths.

I actually registered for a couple of swaddling blankets that really came in handy in the beginning. Also, I love the Halo sleep sacks. This is what my DS sleeps in every night. I basically put everything gender neutral on my registry because I did not know what I was having. You might also want to put some sleep gowns and stretchies on the registry. I did not put them on the registry and received them as gifts any way. Many people will buy you things like that even if they are not on the registry. Actually come to think of it I put maybe 2 onesies on my registry, but still received a bunch for my shower.

I never used swaddling blankets b/c the baby always wiggled out of them and I was afraid of having the extra material around him...so I say sleep sacks. I got the cheapo fleece ones from BRU and they are great 2 for $20. I havent used the cotton one I have b/c I dont think its warm enough. The fleece ones that I have come in one size, 0-9mos and I dress the baby in a cotton onise/feety pjs and put the fleece sleep sack over it.

blankets - 3 or 4 fleece, 2-3 cotton
sleepwear - I sugggest 3-4 cotton, 3-4 terry, 2-3 fleece
bath stuff - register for a tub and I only need like 3 towels, b/c I dont wash them every time I give a bath

I registered for my boy (not gender neutral)

I had the swaddling thing but never used it...DS hated being swaddled but when we did manage to do it we used receiving blankets.

The sleep sack has been a great help (used every night) in the winter. DS was born in May at 8lbs and started using it in October. We started with the Medium and now he is in Large (21 lbs at almost 8 months)

I also recommend registering for lots of bibs and wash clothes...you can never have enough. I use the wash clothes when I am feeding him sometimes since he dribbles. It trickes down his chin to his collar and the bibs don't always get it...for him.

Yup - you can register gender neutral...that's your best bet.

I did not buy too many clothes and that was good. He grew so fast.

Thinks you will need

- onesies in several sizes (I had 10)
- bibs
- I never used a swaddling blanket, I had a small cotton blanket and swaddled him in that.
- sleep sack: I did not use until he was 4 months

I'm not a MOm yet but have been to TONS of showers and at every one, people buy clothes. People love buiying baby clothes-they will even buy something from your registry and then buy and outfit too..I personally will probably not register for clothes-except for a couple of special things. GL!

I couldnt survive without the Swaddle Me and I LOVE the gerber sleep and plays! Those are a must. And I would get one sleep sack to start off with. I bought 3 and never used them because he still likes being swaddled.

Re: BTDT Moms......advice on clothing items to register for please!

Used the swaddle blanket once...DD hated it. I would reccomend onesies short and long sleeved in lots of sizes...alot of bibs and burpcloths and if you want packages of pajamas with the zippers although Childrens Place PJ's are the best IMO
