Did you change the toilet seats when you moved in?

Just curious what you did about the toilet seats when you moved into your home. Did you change them or just clean them thoroughly?

Also, the upstairs is carpeted. It's in excellent condition so we're not replacing the carpet. Apparently, the sellers prided themselves on keeping the carpet clean and wouldn't let anyone walk on the carpet with shoes. Even though the carpet looks good, I still want to clean it before moving in. If you kept the carpet, did you rent a steamer to clean the carpet?

Toilet set - YES

Cleaned carpets - yes, but not right away. We painted the rooms so after each room was painted, we then steamed the carpets so we lived in the house for some time before some of the carpets were cleaned.

We changed them - toilet seats.

As for the carpet...it was nasty once the furniture was gone so we replaced all but one room - the living room. We plan to re-do the hardwood floors and that will be included...int he meanwhile we have a steamer so we put it to work before we moved in.

Re: Did you change the toilet seats when you moved in?

we did when we moved into our apartment
when we moved into the house we ripped out the toliet along with the whole bathroom!

I never used the toliet that came with the house! We knew we were redoing the bathroom before we moved in

but if we did not redo the bathroom i def would have changed the seat

Re: Did you change the toilet seats when you moved in?

It was hard to do in our house as the bathrooms were original to the house and the colors were near impossible to match. I knew we were gutting the bathrooms eventually anyway, so I cleaned the seats down with lots of bleach!

yes, both seats got changed out before i used them.

as for carpets, we have carpeting in the living room that we will eventually pull up but we are keeping for a bit. we cleaned it when we were done with the painting. my ILs have a machine so MIL did it for me.

Toilet seats - OH Yeah - we changed them right away!!!!

About the carpets - we had our own carpet cleaner, but as a housewarming gift, my BIL and SIL hired a professional company to come in and do it Chat Icon

Toilet seats were the first thing we did after closing. It was a priority for meChat Icon.

We have hardwood floors through the house (both floors) so I can't answer about the carpets. But I would get them cleaned. There is a lot in carpets that you can't see.

It never occurred to me to change them! I did a thorough cleaning though. Eventually we replaced them.
