Same here except different hospital. no issues. DS was nearly a year before he had it i think.

I did. THey make you sign a paper. We had it done at the ped a while later.

Not a prob at all. I delivered at SB too. I think I signed the waiver in my midwives office, i'm not sure now. I did remind them I was not having it done so there was no confusion or oops.

Ours was - because of where my DH works. But you're right, in most cases, newborns aren't at risk of exposure.

We did with DS. We just said we were delaying until we saw our pediatrician. It was no big deal.

DD I did it with the pediatrician, but DS I had it done in the hospital.

For us, we didn't think it was necessary for a newborn who is hours old to have a vaccine for something they are most likely not exposed to (depending on one's occupation like a doctor or EMT, etc.) I knew my child wouldn't be having sex or sharing needles so we declined the shot.

I did.
They didn't give me any issues- said it was my choice.
They asked me about it either the night she was born or the next morning.
I had to sign a release.
She had it at her 2 month visit with some other shots.
I just didn't feel it was necessary to give her any shots at such a young age and since neither DH or I were in a high risk group for Hep B the ped was fine with it too

Hep B is very similar to the HIV virus in the way it infects people and spreads. And actually, there is some proof that if you are in close contact with a person with Hep B, over long period of time, whether you are sexually active or not, you are likely to catch it, but they aren't sure why.
The way it kills them is terrible, its sits in the body for years and years, and suddenlty you get terrible liver disease, slow and painful. You die of liver failure and donated livers are not given to Hep B patients (as far as I know).
Naturally, if you can get the vaccine for such a disease you'd do it. But considering the way it spreads, a newborn, with healthy caretakers, in typical normal home circumstances presents an very unlikely case, practically impossible case.
There are side effects to any vaccine, such tiny babies are so sensitive, imo the risk for side effects for my infant at day 1,2,3 ... where just too great. I think we will get it when DS is 3. Just because he wont be getting too many shots around that time, and he wont be in daycare or anything till then.
The thing with Hep B, if you have it, it can lay silent in your system for many many years. So you may not even know you have it. That's one of the reason they recommend it at birth. Because most moms/dads never get tested for it, until they show symptoms.

I would imagine you would be no?
I know I had to be tested for HIV not once but TWICE.
Wouldnt' it make sense to test for that too?

Honestly I'm such a spaz when it comes to what was done and tested for on me at prego, because I was such a hypochondriac I got tested for everything before that, I kind of forget when I got tested for what. My guess is that, if they test you for HIV as part of a lump package of tests, then probably would be part of that.

I did about 10 times. when I got in. while I was being induced. while I was in labor when he came out and was taken to that table for cleaning. when he was taken away for his blood test. when we were getting ready for discharge.
I told everyone. I wasn't having it. and I didn't want anyone to do it "by accident". no one really commented either way.

we turned it down... repeatedly! I think like 10 people at LIJ asked. And then finally they brought us the waiver- which we signed. It was done at the ped's office a couple weeks later

Yes we gave it to her right before daycare.
I didn't mind her having it- I know it's so important....but I just didn't want her having it at like 1 day old. That scared me a bit.
