hepatitis shot at hospital
So my hospital said we have to decide if we want the hep shot at birth or to wait until we go to the pediatrician. . any advice one way or another?
are there advantages to waiting?

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
With DS, I waited for my ped to do it. I just felt more comfortable. I will do the same with this baby.

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
My ped didn't have rights to the hospital I delivered at, and I wanted him to have administered everything to DS. So we declined it in the hospital.

I didn't know the hospital offered this. I will probably wait until we go to the ped.

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
We chose to wait until the 2 month appointment next month. I know I'm going to be sad to give her so many shots at once at 2 months, but I couldn't bear to give a 1-day-old a shot. It just seemed unnecessary to me to do it when she was born. So we elected to wait. That way she'll be a little stronger first.

we are going to wait. our doc said that it wasn't necessary to do at the hospital they had enough trauma already and we agree.

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
TOTALLY waiting - I think it is ridiculous that they even CONSIDER pumping a one day old baby with chemicals and anitbodies that are unnecessary at that point. Their systems are soo fragile still.

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
We waited and I will wait again for #2. My ped felt more comfortable with us waiting and also liked that all vaccinations will be given through the same office.

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
we are declining the shot and postponing it for a few months -- like PP said its completly unnecessary since there is like no risk of the baby catching it ......they only issue it at birth since there trying to erradicate Hep B from our population and are afraid people wont get the shot later

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
I'm not a fan of a newborn baby getting shots so I think I want to wait until we talk to the pediatrician during the baby's first appt.

Re: hepatitis shot at hospital
With my DS I waited and had my ped. do it in the office. I will do the same with this baby. Even though my ped visits the hospital daily I just feel much more comfy waiting and doing the shot at her recommended schedule which is 2 mths.
