Re: cutting babies hair before one = bad luck?
Its just an old wives tale! I already gave DD a little trim in the back just to even it out, but I am going to try not to give her a real hair cut for as long as I can....that being said......don't you dare cut that beautiful childs hair!!! I love it
Oh and I love this picture btw. Say hi to M for C.

yes, heard of it and didn't listen. Mason couldn't see. His hair was crazy. Got it cut at 11 months. He's had so many haircuts since then and he's only 11 months. His hair comes in fast and thick

I've heard this too, I've also heard do not cut till they are 2, but I've also been told to shave his head before he's 2. We live among many different cultures and all the old wives tales at some point contradict each other.

Re: cutting babies hair before one = bad luck?
I've never heard that. But, that being said, I did wait till after he was 1 - but that was because Mommy was having a hard time with the idea of her tiny baby being so grown up.
I love your DDs hair. I say wait as long as you can take it - she's so cute!!!

Sorry I don't buy into any of that stuff.
(But this is coming from a girl who showed her DH the wedding dress BEFORE the wedding! )
And yet, we are STILL married and have had no bad luck after 9 years!

I cut DS hair at 9 months. I have heard of people saying it is bad luck to do it before a child turns one. To each his own....

I heard it, but I don't get it. Bad luck for what??? DD didn't need a haircut before 1, but I know plenty of babies who did get their hair cut before 1.

Never heard of that. Your friend will probably think my family is crazy since in my culture, babies get their head shaved before their naming ceremony (both boys and girls). DD looked very cute bald!

I have heard of it, but personally think that it is kinda silly(JMO) Also, as a hairdersser, I can tell you that sometimes with girls, you just have to wait it out with their hair. Once you get past the crazy stage when they are little, it gets better. I usually dont like to cut baby girls hair too early unless it is VERY uneven or they have lots of hair and the mom wants bangs.

yes i heard of it. my mother almost flipped when i said i was getting ds hair cut I told her to chill and a hair cut doesnt = bad luck!!! needless to say i got his hair cut a week b4 his birthday.. When she was talking to her cousin that i got ds hair cut her cousin was like WHAT?!?!? my mother calmly said oo its not a big deal its just a hair cut relax LOL
So while i heard it b4 i dont believe it one bit! Now i got my mother thinking its a crock also and if anyones superstitious its her!

Re: cutting babies hair before one = bad luck?
Yes I heard of it but I didn't want my DS looking like a ragamuffin so he got it cut before 1. I don't believe in it at all....It's easier to follow with a girl but boys can have very long hair at 1!

These little rubberbands will be your best friend. They can not pull them out. You can pull the top section out of her face and off to the side. If you start early, she most likey will get used to having things in their hair:)
Peyton has one of the rubberbands in her hair in this pic, like I was talking about. I just put a bow over it.

In lots of cultures, they shave the kid's hair to make it thicker. There is no bad luck.

oh yeah, i use elastics often, she has pigtails in right now!!! she doesn't mind things in her hair at all, thank goodness!!
question about parts & cowlicks... she has many cowlicks- how do i handle them if possible? and can i change a part or it is just going to stay where it is (the natural part)?

Never heard it, but doubt it would deter me if I did. DS's hair was getting out of control. He was kinda sporting a mullet and we needed to intervene

Re: cutting babies hair before one = bad luck?
it's not necessarily an old wives' tale, but a cultural thing.
i work with a LOT of Indian people and it has been explained to me as an Indian belief.
A friend of mine was literally putting his son's hair in pigtails to avoid the haircut - but they had to give in finally, as it was out of control. They had to hide the fact that they had given their son a haircut from my friends' parents.
