Re: is it bad luck

It's a personal preference.

I'm much too superstious. In addition in my religion it is bad luck. I will not be bringing any baby related items into my home until myChat Icon is home. Anything we may need prior to her coming home from the hospital, my family will bring to the house and set up before we come home.

Re: is it bad luck

totally personal preference.

we have a ton of clothes and toys and things that we got on sale/clearance. the way we looked at it - it went into the basement, sealed in bags and if we never had our own children (for whatever reason) - we could give it away to many of our friends...

i'm normally supersticious - however i'm also realistic. If we could get an adorable Winnie the Pooh jacket for 1.99 on clearance, i can't turn that down...

I don't believe in bad luck...but it could seriously bum you out if you don't conceive quickly.....

I wouldn't want to see a crib in my house right now.

Re: is it bad luck

I would love to! However, I am really superstitious also so I would be nervous. Clothes, I would also love to; I love finding stuff on sale or stuff that I am in love with and I say should I or shouldnt I, but I have to walk away. Like I said, I get nervous with that stuff....

Re: is it bad luck

I don't know if it's bad luck, but I personally wouldn't do it. I'm not even bringing furniture into the home until after Chat Icon is born.

Except for pregnancy books and maternity clothes, I didn't feel comfortable buying anything baby/pregnancy related until I was well into the second trimester. I'm 29.5 weeks and the only baby thing I've bought was the bedding. It's a personal preference though.

ETA: I just ordered the furniture 1 week ago and I ordered the glider today.

ITA that it's personal preference.

I'm not superstitious but there's no way I would buy a crib or anything before our baby has been conceived.

We have been trying for 14 months and I can't imagine having a crib sitting around gathering dust without making me absolutely miserable. Also, I know for me - my taste changes constantly and new things come out all of the time. I wouldn't want to buy something too early and then change my mind about it later.

I don't think it's bad luck or anything, but unfortunately I m/c'd at 9 weeks and had a few baby things in the house and I made DH get rid of them all. I was just too emotional to look at them. Luckily, DH knew me and just hid them in the the extra bedroom so when I got PG again and had DD he could pull them out.

Honestly, I am very superstitious like that, so I say yes.

I never bought stuff before I was PG with DD, but this time if I see something cute and it's on sale I'll pick it up!

Re: is it bad luck

Picking up a cute toy or outfit is one thing, but a crib..eek... I don't think I could do it. Tell your Mom you'd prefer to wait.
