Cracked iPhone Screen?
Will the Apple store repair this? My phone is insured, but it works just fine. Just the screen is cracked. So I don't really want to get a whole new phone if I can just get the screen fixed. Does anyone know anything about this? How long it will take? How much it will cost? TIA! Just trying to see if it's worth it before I spend my lunch hour in the Apple store.

you can go to a kiosk at roosevelt field. theres a guy that repairs. also a store in fresh meadows

Do you have the one in Fresh Meadows? I'm still going to try at the Apple store since it's right downstairs, but if it's ridiculous, I'll go to Fresh meadows.

When my iPhone screen cracked I took it to the Apple Store. I had the back of the phone break, iPhone 3 and 4, and fixing the back was inexpensive, 20-30 if I remember correctly. Touch screen glass is more expensive.

I took mine to the apple store and they fixed it for free. Said it was a one time thing but they did it nonetheless. I'd go there first, why pay if you don't have to?

Someone had told me $40 as well, so I figured that's not bad. Maybe they meant for the back of the phone as well? I went to the Apple Store and they told me it'd be $199!  Effffff that noise. They said there is no way to fix it and it would just be a brand new phone but they'd keep this old one. I'm trying the place in Fresh Meadows tomorrow and if that's a lot, then I'm just going to get a replacement through AT&T. Like I said, it's insured, but since I'm an idiot (or rather DH is) when it comes to phones, I'd like to keep my AT&T replacement until the phone isn't working at all and I actually need it. I'm only hoarding it because they limit the number of insurance claims you can make per year. Yes, he's THAT bad with phones. Thanks though guys!

Dude, what they told you is total bull shit. I went to the Apple store in the Walt Whitman Mall and the kid replaced the back of my phone free of charge. He said they usually charge $35 for the back and $200 for the front but that because I had the Apple Care insurance they do it free for the first replacement. I'm sorry but it sounds like you got hosed.

I got the front screen fixed for $60 at a kiosk.
They said you waive the Apple warranty when doing so but I have a 4 so I really don't care. LOL.

Hmmm... adds up. It's the front of the phone that's cracked. But they said they'd just be giving me a whole new phone and I guess they take my busted up one and refurbish it to sell again? Either way, not worth it for me.

I have the 4S, but even still, I'm due for an upgrade in the fall so I'm not too concerned about the warranty. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
