confession time

i am the world's worst mommy:

1. i have had a few sips of wine (probably equal to one glass) since i started my second tri

2. i have had two very small glasses of beer (maybe 4-6 oz. each)

3. i had a little bit of smked salmon in san francisco because i was craving it so badly

4. i eat tuna and cold cuts at least once a week if not more

5. i don't think i drink anywhere near 64 oz of water a day

6. i drink an o'douls or two on the weekends when i go out with DH

7. i have NEVER done kegel exercises

ok ladies now it's your turn! i can't be the only truly horrible mommy out there!!

Re: confession time

Here I go!

1. I don't eat vegetables as much as I should.

2. I just had the cold cut trio sandwich from Subway.

3. I eat french fries at least once a week.

4. Haven't tried kegel's exercise yet.

5. I've eaten hot dogs

6. I don't drink enough milk

I think this is it for me...but biggest guilt is not eating veggies as much.

Re: confession time

I've possibly had more feta cheese in the past 6 weeks than the islanders of crete eat in a year.

I've worn two bras (interchanging and cleaning them of course) since I found out I was PG bc they are the only ones that are comfotableChat Icon

ETA I don't eat veggies a lot or fruit, I need to jump on that...

Thats it for now, I'm sure I'll add more to the list as the weeks pass....Chat Icon

My OB always told me that everything in moderation was okay. Even drinking a glass of wine or drinking a beer here or there was fine. As for tuna, you CAN eat tuna, you are just cautioned to limit it to no more than a can a week because of the mercury levels. Chat Icon

Re: confession time

1. I try but I hardly ever drink the 64oz I am supposed to!

2.. dont eat enough vegetables

3. don't eat ANY fruits

3.. I eat cold cuts usually more than 1x per week (but I often heat them)

4. I eat tuna at least 1x a week every week.

5. I often do things I shouldn't be doing (like in the garden and lifting things) being that I went into pre term labor my first pregnancy and had some spotting once during this pregnancy.

ETA: I forgot I drink a glass of regular coke everynight with dinner.

I'm sure there's plenty more............

i love how you keep editing your post Chat Icon

i am not trying to justify what i did/do - this is a confession post.

my mother drank during her pregnancy, as i am sure a lot of our mothers did, and we are all fine *in spite* of it.

i do NOT drink regularly - i have had a tiny bit of wine and beer. and as for the o'douls, it contains less than .5% of alcohol per beer - i probably get my baby "drunker" when i pump my own gas because of the fumes.

as for the tuna, as discussed in many other posts, it is fine in moderation, because it does not contain the same levels of mercury as other large fish do.

but thanks for your concern Chat Icon

Re: confession time

It's too early for me to have anything to confess but I just wanted to add that my doctor said the same thing about moderation. I plan on having a small glass of wine from time to time once I'm in my 2nd trimester too!!

Re: confession time

my dr even said a glass of wine after the 1st tri is fine...and in England, I work with a bunch of ppl from England laugh at us about the whole wine thing, they drink wine (very much in moderation) throughout their pregnancy.....

Re: confession time

1. I don't drink enough water
2. I sometimes drink caffinated soda when I go out to eat.

Other than that I'd say I'm doing ok. I don't eat seafood (I hate it) and I haven't had a cold cut sandwich or feta in such a looooooong time.Chat Icon

Re: confession time

To Babymaybe who is judging headoverheels....Okay, so I had a beer during my pregnancy, I had probably 2 glasses of wine total (although DH would not allow me to drink it in public) I ate tuna a few times, I had cold cuts probably 2-3 times a week for about 30 of those weeks, I had fish, I am honestly not even sure what I was not supposed to eat. I slept on my back until 30 weeks when I just couldnt breathe anymore, I never did kegels, I had hot dogs in the beginning like they were going out of style, I drank soda with caffine, I forgot to take my prenatals more times than I care to admit...And you know what I got from doing all this....

IMO moderation is key....

ETA: I had a very typical pregnancy, unevenful and healthy producing a nearly 10lb angel who spends 98% of his day smiling, laughing and talking and sleeps 10+ hours at night since he was 8 weeks! So I wouldnt change a thing!

I forgot to add I drink regular coke everynight when I get home from work (probably about half a glass)

I've had coffee a few mornings and some days I've had iced coffee

We're going to a baseball game when we go to San Fran and I am all about having a hot dog. I can't wait for it Chat Icon

Cold cuts every so often (definately a moderation thing)

DH's cousin is getting married June 7 and I plan on having a sip of wine at the wedding.

Re: confession time

-I eat cold cuts every couple of weeks.
-I have sips of DH's beer (man I want beer more now that I am pg)
-I have a sip of diet coke in the morning and than again at night (i miss my diet coke). Oh and when I go out to eat I will also have a glass of diet coke with dinner or lunch.
-I have no idea why I should be doing kiegel exercises but I guess add that one to my list.

My doctor told me everything in moderation also.. so I don't feel guilty for the things I stated above.. if you want to call me naughty go right ahead.. I am a naughty mommy.

Re: confession time

It's still early so I'm sure there will be more:

I live on carbs. I eat a lot of Ramen noodles, saltines, and crackers with peanut butter.

I don't eat enough vegetables or fruit.

I don't drink milk that often (am I supposed to drink a lot of milk?).

I went to the driving range on Saturday and played golf on Sunday. I didn't think that was bad, but my parents made a big deal out of it. Chat Icon
