can i just get some sympathy for a minute?
so two years ago when my fiance and i started dating, i started writing him love letters every month..the first one began "if you're reading this, we're getting married tomorrow...", and i wrote it the morning after our first date
i wrote every month for our first year together, and then after big events
i added pictures, and kept it as a project in iphoto
i backed it up and created a second book on blurb
i had a file on a flash drive of the letters
well i went to finish the book on iphoto today, and it's gone..apparently when i updated the software a few months ago it got deleted
went onto blurb, they delete inactive projects after a few months, so that one's gone too
the flash drive became corrupt somehow
now all those letters are lost, even though i backed it up over and over
i've been sitting here crying i'm so upset

The flash drive may be corrupted, but the files on it may be able to be salvaged. Have you taken it to a computer repair place and let them check it out?

I'm so sorry that happened to you
My uncle works with computers and told me once that pretty much anything can be recovered (depending how bad it could cost $$ but he said there's usually a way to get back files). Find the best computer repair company and see if they can recover for you.

Useless on a flash drive the things can be recovered...i put mine thru the wash once in college and i paid someone and they got everything off of it

I am so sorry Kayla! I really do hope you are able to recover the love letters. It is such a beautiful thing that you did for your FH...he is a very lucky man. Either way, your wedding day is going to be so unbelievably special.

This happened to me when I updated iphoto as well. There was some glitch in the new update. Do you have Time Capsule? I was able to create a new iphoto library from my last saved back up and luckily that is daily so I had the entire iphoto restored as it was.

thanks everyone it really was just kinda heartbreaking
i've now spent about 4 hours this morning and 3 hours or so yesterday putting together a new book, and i wrote a VERY long opening letter-i still had all the pictures so it was just a matter of organizing them
i'm going to try to take the flash drive somewhere, and if they can recover the letters i can put them into the new book
i know it will still be a nice wedding present, it's just i know how much more special the letters would have made it
