C-Section mommies, post-op question & bleeding
I just had my 2nd c-section on 3/27. My incision sometimes bleeds. Now I use the pads from the hospital to cover the scar to prevent moisture, but the pads do get "pink". Not gushing (sorry if TMI) but I don't go to my doctor till next Tuesday. Is this norm? I'm not terribly concerned and I think its because I'm not "resting" being I also have a 3 year old with me.
Norm?

I would rest if I were you. Is there anyone who can help you? You don't want to cause internal injuries.

Re: C-Section mommies, post-op question & bleeding
Not trying to freak you out, but I would ask the doctor. I've had three c-sections and the only time I've ever had bleeding (also very faint in color as you are describing) I had an infection and the incision opened up. Doesn't hurt to ask, and definitely take it easy.

I didn't have any bleeding once I left the hospital. I did overdue it at home though and need to take a full week of bedrest because of it. I would call your OB just to check the on it.

Re: C-Section mommies, post-op question & bleeding
I would think you're definitely "overdoing" it since coming home. Did not have ANY post-op bleeding at my incision after the c/s. Call the doctor and maybe see if anyone else can come by until your DH is off to help you.

I didn't have any bleeding either.. try to take it easy and call your dr. I have a 2 year old also and for the first week home DH took care of him so I could heal.. after a week I was fine to go about my day. I know how demanding a toddler can be, if I were you i'd get someone over to help you..

Re: C-Section mommies, post-op question & bleeding
i had my second c-section on 2/7
i had an abnormal amount of scar tissue so my second c was more "traumatic" than a typical c-section. I had an obscene amount of bruising afterwards along with drainage which was pink (it wasnt blood, it's serous fluid from a seroma due to trauma). If that's what youve got it's not from an infection. With an infection it would typically be red, painful and sometimes *****. I also put pads over the incison to soak up the fluid. While in the hospital I went through about 3-4 pads a day from the fluid. Once I was home I only needed 1-2. They had to leave the staples in longer than they usually do and it took a little longer for my incision to heal but otherwise I was fine. My doctors we'rent too concerned about it, they were more concerned about the bruising.
HTH!
