C/S - stitches or staples
Which one did you have? What was your experience l? Did you know in advance which one you were going to get?
With my first DC I had stitches , they dissolved later on . I had no idea, never even asked in advance , but I was glad they gave me stitches once I realized that I didn't have to go back and have them removed. So now for next time I definitely want stitches. My friend just had a C/S, she has staples and she is mad as he!! because first she says she is uncomfortable, in pain and the also because she didn't know/didn't ask , she just assumed she was going to get stitches like with her first C/S.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
1st time I had staples - they removed them at the hospital so no big deal. I healed so well that my 2nd c section they gave me stitches. Honestly while I didn't feel any difference, I think I healed better with the staples.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
I had dis-solvable stitches inside and then they glued me on the outside.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
Had both. First was emergency c section and had staples. They removed it a week later. Recovery was bad anyway b.c it was a crash c and I was put under. Second was scheduled c section. Different doc since I moved and he said he removed my old scar and did stitches. Sovfar the stitches are healing better, but my stapes were fine too. Maybe a drop pudgier, but it's only been two weeks and so far I think I like stitches better.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
I had staples - didn't know what I was going to have. They were painful afterwards because they were pulling. I had to have them removed a couple of days before I was supposed to because of that. And then my incision opened up almost a week later - not sure if that has anything to do with having staples though.

This is what they did to me, too. Great experience... great recovery. My SIL had staples and her recovery was horrible! She was in a lot of pain.

Disolvable inside; staples outside. the staples were removed before I left the hospital. My recovery was quick and easy.

I had stitches - absolutely no problem with them. You can't even see my scar. Even *I* have trouble finding it sometimes! My doc removed them at my 2-week pp visit.

Same here both times. I still had issues as I am allergic to adhesive (discovered after my first c/s) so I had to go in before my second c/s to have them test out which of the adhesives they could safely use on me.

Same. Staples were no issue whatsoever. They removed them the day I left the hospital, never felt them when they were in and didn't even feel her taking them out.

I had stitches both times with 2 different OB practices. i asked in advance the 2nd time...1st time I had no idea to ask.
I had great recoveries both times, after my 1st (before c/s #2 my scar was barely visible.)

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
staples first time..thought I had a good scar...until I had stiches second time .. the scar was SOOO much better! Glad that was my 2nd one! lol...but the recoveries were the same...no problems at all! But I guess the staples were a little more uncomfortable with underwear lines and stuff!

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
I had staples. The dr. said it had something to do with how the incision was closing up. I have to assume that there is a reason why they use one versus the other.

Staples -- they were removed the day I was leaving the hospital. Didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
I had staples which they removed the day I left the hospital. After they took them out, which didn't hurt at all, they put tape over the incision. The tape fell off about a week later. I had no problems at all with the staples.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
my dr's nurse told me in lamaze class that he does stitches, and that they are better but it takes more time to do- so some doctors do staples. .....
luckily I had neither since I delivered the other way.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
haha I had both and also a nitrate stick or something was applied to reseal a 'leak'
Staples at first, stitches later at first sign of splitting then the stick which hurt like hell.
staples were the easiest of them all. JMHO

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
Dissolving staples inside... no idea what they used outside. I didn't know in advance b/c I had planned a natural birth with a midwife. Recovery was ok, I guess. I was sore for months, but only needed Motrin regularly for 6 weeks or so. The scar is definitely there but getting a little lighter. A typical pair of underwear covers it.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
My first section I had staples bc I was opened up pretty big to get DS out. I had no issue with recovery but do remember the pulling sensation. My scar was very visible when they removed my staples.
My 2nd section I git stitches which were disposal. My incision eS rather small & my scar is not visible.

Re: C/S - stitches or staples
Neither, I had glue that comes off after a few weeks and then around 4 weeks OB told me to start getting the rest of it off, worked out well, never had an issue with it.
