are you particular about which gas station you use?

I always went to name brand stations only.

HESS is down the block, so now I go there. Someone told me it is terrible gas though. Not sure why....


I went to Shell last night with my stop&shop points. They were .15 more expensive.


Just wondering if there is a difference ?

My father swears that there is no difference between the no name brands and ones like Mobil or Hess. I dont know about that. I try to stick with Mobile though because I find my car seems to run better on that.

I won't go to Exxon/Mobil, but after that I just look for the cheapest.

I'm pretty sure that they all buy their gas from the big guys anyway.

They all share gas, there is no difference. Saying that, the Shell station near me is ridiculous so I want go there, and if given a choice I am a fan of Hess.

I tend to go to BJs, but other than that, I'm not particular, and will go to the no-name guys as well.

There is no difference in the gas from one station to the next.
Gas is gas. It's fuel.
They all buy from the same place.
The only difference in gas is the octane ratings.

I go wherever I can get it cheapest or most of the time, whatever station is closest by as my car is runnign out of gas!

Not all...I mostly go by price or conveninece. I took an auto care class a million years ago and the instructer said there's no difference from one station to the next. The no name station buy their gas from the big guys.

I just go to the one closest to where I am at the moment. Or, I try to find a Shell so I can use my Stop & Shop points.

There's not much choice where I am, there are few and far between. I usually end up at Hess, for convenience, or Gulf.

I have collected Stop and Shop gas points and gone to Shell once, but they were so much more per gallon, the S&S points were a wash!

I'm still angry at BP about their handling of the spill last year so I REFUSE to use their fuel.

And I am angry at Exxon-Mobil for their giant profits so I try to only use Hess (although I'm sure they also make huge profits).

I go anywhere but Mobil (they are ridiculously expensive).

In my area, we have Getty, Lukoil, and we had Hess, but, they knocked it down to make a Hess Express.

If I don't have enough Stop n Shop points to make it worth it for Shell, I go to the next cheapest station!

No preference but I REFUSE to go to the ones that charge a different price for cash and credit. I know they have to pay a cc processing fee but come on, your not making enough money off me already. Today mostly everyone has credit cards and accepting them is just the cost of doing business today, no need to penalize me for it. I will go to the same price cash or credit even if they are a few cents more than the credit price at a station that charges a different price.

There is mo difference, except for hess, they all come from the same place. I use the cheapest.

I will go to an Exxon/Mobil once in a blue moon to keep my credit card active.

I go to Hess as I have a Hess credit card and you get a 3% or 5% rebate on gas purchases.

I have my favorite local station I go to for gas/pop/newspaper/coffee/lottery, but when traveling I try to find a speedway since I have a rewards card, I like fountain coke, and they have styrafoam cups...which, IMHO is the ONLY way to drink an icey cold coke fountain drink mmmmmmmmmmm may need to run to the store now :)

ok, so I googled it and found articles in car & driver and other magazines.


They recommend TOP TIER Gasolines because they contain detergents. Hess is not one of them.

Buy cheap fuel, and you risk coating parts of your engine with thick deposits that can dramatically affect your car's performance. There are a number of possible conditions including sticky intake valves and clogged fuel injectors.

cheapest and same price for cash or credit

I have to use my business debit card to keep track of my expensives and I hate paying extra for it- esp on a 25 gallon tank....

there is no diffrence I usually gas shop and go for the cheapest that I can use my credit card at and not get charged the extra .20 cents. I usually go to BJ's since they are always on the way home and the best priced.

Always Hess unless I am in need of it asap. I don't know why, I just remember I took a college class on environmental science and my professor swearing by Hess and it stuck with me. I have done the research and know it's crap but I still usually go there, I think out of habit
