Anyone afraid to be alone overnight?

DH is in Daytona for business and won't be back until tomorrow. This is the first time I'm sleeping alone in our apartment, and I gotta admit, I'm a lil scared. I already took out a baseball bat and put it next to my bed, put my car keys on the nightstand, turned on all the alarms, and plan on locking myself in the bedroom when I go to sleep. Is this weird?? I have actually been like this all my life... when I lived alone I could never fall asleep unless my bedroom door was locked.

eta... I do not do this when DH is home

It's definately not weird.

DH travels for business. He's actually been gone since last Tuesday, I have another 2 days to go until he's home. I sleep with my car keys on the night stand, my cell phone and house phone on the nightstand as well. Alarm gets reset as soon as I walk in the door from work.



ETA: I'm much better now than I was when we first moved into the house. I went from a 1 bedroom apartment to an 11 room house.

I think if DH wasnt gonna be home- Me and Ds would sleep at my moms

not at all...I lived alone for many years...got used to going to bed by myself!!

I never lived alone so when I'm here by myself because DH's is away (which only happens once a year) I am neurotic. Every little noise wakes me up, its terrible!

I hate being home a lone at night. I get nervous over every little noise I hear.

I used to be deathly afraid to be home alone when JT would work overnights. But that was because when I was in college, my friend and I were staying at my parents' house while they were away, and someone tried to break into our house at 2am. So, needless to say, I have hated being alone overnight, since. I would say that the only part of me that is still scared just leaves the lights on and all the doors and windows locked. But now that I have Ava, I feel like I'm not alone, so I'm fine. Because afterall, my 13lb. baby is going to protect me from the boogey man

Now that I am living in my own house with DH, if he is not going to be home overnight or until very late, I freak! I don't get why as I set the alarm, lock the bedroom door!

Now when I lived at my parents, I use to stay home alone all summer long & never thought of anything!!!!

DH is going to be away all weekend camping and I'll be all alone in the house. I'm freaking out! I asked my friend to sleep over because I'm so nervous!

I am always a little nervous when I am home late at night alone in the apartment. I make sure both locks are locked.

neither one of us travels for business anymore (thank GOD!), but DH goes to OH to see his mom sometimes without me. not in a while though.

it is VERY weird when he goes... it's like I am single again, and I HATE IT

DH makes fun of me. If he is out for the night, I leave on all of the lights!!!!

No, but I lived alone for many years before I got together w/DH. I do hate sleeping alone in bed though. It just doesn't feel right

For the past 2 months I get paranoid even when DH is home. I have lock our storm door and the alarm is on. I don't think it is weird at all. Their are to many crazy people in this world that I just do not trust.

Not at all. My husband plows snow in the winter, and is usually gone all night long. I have two dogs that bark if a mouse farts, so I dont worry much.

Not afraid per say but I usually cannot sleep unless Dh is home- luckily he doesnt go away on bus- just the occasional bach party ( thank god almost all our friends are married now) its weird because I used to never be like this its only recently I guess Im just so used to him being there that I cant relax, things are out of place.

DH works nights, so unfortunately, I've gotten used to falling asleep alone. Still, it would be a little weird for me waking up and not having him next to me in the morning.
