Another mass shooting...church in TX
As many as 27 people were killed and two dozen more injured when a gunman opened fire inside a crowded Texas church Sunday morning, according to reports.
The shooter, who has not been identified, walked into the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs just before noon and began firing, officials said.
One of the shooting victims is a 2-year-old child, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The carnage may have been caught on camera, as the church frequently live-streams its services on YouTube, according to CNN.
Wilson County Commissioner Albert Gamez, Jr. said up to 27 people died and 24 more injured, according to WKLY.
The shooter was “taken down” and killed, authorities said.
“Our prayers are with all who were harmed by this evil act,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott posted on Twitter. “Our thanks to law enforcement for their response.”
The town is about 30 miles southwest of San Antonio.
The violence comes just a month after the US’s worst-ever mass shooting — when madman Stephen Paddock opened fire on an outdoor Las Vegas concert on Oct. 1, killing 58 and injuring hundreds.
So sad. I'm so sick over all these mass shootings.

I agree. Awful response to a shooting at a church! I will absolutely be praying for the victims of this disgusting crime committed by a horrible person. So sad.

Exactly. I don't want your prayers once I am dead, thanks. I want something to change while I am still alive. But people need their guns so..... Nothing will change.

Not crass at all. Its ridiculous that 48 hours after someone drives a truck into a bike lane in lower manhatten killing 8 people, they put up concrete barriers to "ensure" it never happens again.
But EVERY month there is some mass shooting and we send bullcrap "thoughts and prayers".
WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING

Look at all the talk that was going on after Vegas about the bump stock ban. Lasted a week or so. Havent heard anything since. Nothing will change. Because people need their guns for you ya fun. An AR15 was used this time. Another gun that shouldnt be on the streets.
As for prayers. They were in a CHURCH! A place of pray and look how much that helped. Im tired of the thoughts and prayers after every attack. Its meaningless. And I dont care if it makes me sound crass. Shit needs to change before we're all going to need a bullet proof vest soon. Including your kids. Think about that. Because once again children were victims.

Seriously. It's almost an insult at this point that whenever this happens we feign shock and trot out our thoughts and prayers. Thoughts and prayers will do nothing to save the next victim of a nutjob with an AR-15.
Please remember to vote Tuesday- support candidates who are in favor of sensible gun reforms.

What can we say that we haven't? This world is sick. I don't want hear that this was an ACT OF EVIL. Who the hell does that help? Prayers and sorrow won't bring back 26 innocent lives.
All we can do is try to make it harder for lunatics to get guns but that won't ever happen under this backwards administration.

Jmo but saying a prayer is never a bad thing
Don't believe in it fine
Don't hate on those who do
And if I'm sending a prayer doesn't mean I'm not sick of this and want things to change

I always say a prayer for people but saying a prayer is NOT the answer to making this madness stop. Saying a prayer does not bring back 26 innocent lives. Saying a prayer is a nice sentiment but it will not stop some lunatic with a gun tomorrow. This is why people get annoyed especially when you have government officials using this as their response time after time.

Why is it crass? Because it's not the politically correct thing to say? Because the automatic response after our bi-weekly mass shooting is "thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers" like that will somehow stop next week's 20+ people from being gunned down at school, at church, the checkout line at the a&p, a movie or a restaurant..? Because that's the ONLY response our elected officials have after a mass shooting? These innocent people didn't have to die while worshipping. They shouldn't have. The safest place for anyone should be a house of worship. Just like last week's victims didn't have to die. Some of us are TIRED of the thoughts and prayers spiel already. Some of us would rather see action.

Because of the way in which this was said. The people who were massacred today obviously believed in prayer; they were at church. And now, they are dead. I'm not saying that we don't need gun reform, I'm saying that it was disrespectful to these people to say something like that.
This was a small, southern church. I've attended churches like this my entire life, and believe me when I say, that these people truly do believe in prayer, religion, and thankfully, they also believe that they are now in a better place.
But the tone of the op was almost mocking. There's a way to say we need gun reform that doesn't insult those who were just massacred.

Prayer isn't a bad thing and I don't hate on those that pray. The victims of this shooting were doing just that before they were gunned down. What I do have a problem with is our elected officials responding to these commonplace shootings with a simple "thoughts and prayers" like the power of their prayer is going to CHANGE ANYTHING! It's maddening that every other week that's all we hear and yet innocent people, children, BABIES keep dying. Isn't it sad that these innocent people died WHILE they were praying?

And also want to add these posts imply that if you say thoughts and prayers you don't care about gun reform and need to wake up etc
So when my kids and I say our prayers for bed. We say a prayer for all that have been hurt or sad today. We hope for a better tomorrow

I can’t speak for everyone but for me and I think many others we are not hating on someone who says thoughts and prayers. I’ve said and will continue to pray for those families left behind. It’s ridiculous though when elected officials say thoughts and prayers. A thought or a prayer won’t do damn thing for the dead! It does not prevent the next deadly mass shooting. It doesn’t stop the fear I have of taking my kids to public places. Because a thought and prayer are just words and we need action. We needed action when 26 1st graders died in school. Instead we have done nothing! Someone mentioned it earlier a crazy lunatic ran over people with a truck we put up barriers in a few days. Hundreds of people are killer by guns and we says prayers. It doesn’t make sense.

Re: Another mass shooting...church in TX
It wasn't said in a mocking tone. The disrespect to the deceased comes from our "leaders" dismissing these horrific events with a simple statement of "thoughts and prayers" and move it along, though some will also add in "now is not the time for a discussion on gun reform". THAT's what's insulting! When there's a shooting almost every week, and every week the only response is "thoughts and prayers" and these shootings just keep happening those words become meaningless!

I know what you originally meant by your statement and I agree with you completely. But nothing will be done. 2 of the 5 deadliest US shootings have occurred in the past 35 days. IN THE PAST MONTH. But no...not the time for action

I agree, but we need to change HIPPA laws. This guy apparently had some mental issues, and he is protected by these laws of HIPPA, so his background check will clear.
