And for a bunch of women who claim to be supportive of women, you sure attacked me for having an opposing view from you. Wow talk about being intolerant.
Huh? You voted for someone who said hateful things about women, immigrants, Muslims, etc. and you want people to be tolerant to you? Nope.
People aren't tolerant to people who are saying they are supporting the "values" he said he supports under the disguise of racism.

On the other thread you called people who voted for him $hit, I really don't care about your opinion. You don't know me or my life.

So are you saying that racists aren't $hit? Because that's what I'm hearing.
The KKK endorsed him. And you did, too. You see nothing wrong with that?
You're right, I don't know you or your life. I don't associate with racists. This election has shown the true colors of many Americans.

Re: America, what have you done?
I dont see how anyone can justify insulting someone because that person voted for someone who has insulted someone else. It literally makes no sense.
Trump has said some nasty things. But clearly America felt that there were other issues and concerns in this election to consider besides which candidate is the sweetest.
I think the "the world is ending" sentiment is a little dramatic. As it would have also been if HRC won.

That's an opinion that DT is those things, not a fact. I don't agree that he is ANY of those things.

You may not think DT is those things (racist etc..), ya know what, maybe its all an act and he's not... but its certainly what he is portraying.
I never post on these board, and i never ever post anything political ANYWHERE.
However - my husband is a HS teacher and just got home. Said he heard that Kids were yelling at other kids that " You're a Mexican, get over the border, time to build a wall". He also teaches an ESL class - the kids were emailing the ESL teacher asking if they should stay home today. Kids shouldn't have to feel like they have to stay home from 9th grade because of who was elected president.
Its disgusting what goes on. I also don't agree with the personal attacks on here at all.. but even if not ALL supporters are racist, this is the kind of message and example that Trump is portraying.
I also saw on my facebook last night - members of the LGBT community are scared for their lives, unsure what was to come for them. They were posting suicide hotline information just in case for their friends. No one should ever have to be scared like that. Makes me sick :(

Its a fact that he chose Mike Pence to be his running mate. Mike Pence has a horrifying record with LGBT issues. Seriously terrifying. By aligning himself with Pence, Trump has shown that he does not care about the LGBT community - it is not a stretch to call him a homophobe when he chose a man with disgusting beliefs to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. You are the company you keep.

Not all Trump supporters are racist But some that i know are:
One coworker lumps "its the muslims"...
Another feels all muslims should be banned from entering the country
A high school "friend" on FB (whom i deleted since) posted on the alumni page last week how he couldnt wait for Trump to win so that we can get to being "white christian America". It was about voting for Hindu and Muslim holidays in the school calendar.
With others its the undertone of what they say that is apparent they are speaking of certain races and groups of people

Thats what it is. Take all of the politics, parties and policies out of it. Its just sad that in 2016 in the USA, people have to feel like this :(
Its what you would expect in an undeveloped country, or 100 years ago

Re: America, what have you done?
America has voted. Good, bad, or otherwise, it's what we do in a democracy. While many may not agree with the outcome, it is what we voted for as a country and each and everyone of us is blessed that we live in a country where we have that freedom.
I don't have to like who you voted for. You don't have to like who I voted for. However, we all have to agree that we are FREE to vote for whomever we want.
We need to get on with the business of running the country and heal the nastiness that occurred on BOTH sides.
Those of us who supported HRC - let's take a cue from Hillary's beautiful concession speech. Trump supporters - let's hope he can deliver the good he promised and in 4 years he leaves us in better shape than we are today.

I'm trying to hold back tears.
This isn't about Hillary losing.
You let hate win. There is simply no other way to put it. You have validated oppression and hatred towards minorities, women, the LGBTQ+ community, muslims, Jews, immigrants, the disabled, and more.
If you're not worried or scared for those people you sit in a place of privelige. We just set ourselves back fifty to a hundred years in one single night. If you thought tension in this country was bad it's going to get worse. The government is now going to actively seek to disenfranchise the disenfranchised in a way I didn't think was possible.
The markets are crashing because the world is reacting to our ineptness. We are not capable of democracy at this point. I am not sure when you'll all wake up and realize that this isn't a joke and the consequences are very, very real.
This wasn't the way to change our country for the best. The sick pit of despair in my stomach is because of the monster you created. How does it feel to openly support such hate? I hope anyone who voted for Trump will be able to look themselves in the mirror and feel good about where this country is now headed. You'll only have yourselves to blame.
I wish for peace and prayers for anyone on LIF who is person of color, a Muslim, a Jew, an immigrant, disabled or handicapped, a woman who feels the sting of this sexism, and anyone else who has to question their safety and existence in this country. I stand with you and will fight with you. The fear you're feeling breaks my heart and I'm sorry.
I'm sorry we've failed.
Preach! This country is azz backwards. We have no one to blame but ourselves after tonight. RIP America, a once great nation. Peace out, it's been real!
ITA 100% agree!! This is a dark day in American history.
And people worry about the electoral college??? I think we need to start giving out IQ tests before handing out the right to vote! Here's to 4 years of sh!t!!!
HIGHLY insulting. IQ test needed bc you don't like the outcome of an election? IQ test bc the candidate you opposed won? So you are more intelligent that those that voted for Trump? HIGHLY insulted. Move on guys. She didn't win. Enough. Stop with the insults. Don't insult someone's intelligence bc your candidate didn't win. Don't.
And OH PLEASE. The markets didn't crash. Enough with the scare tactic drama. Enough. This is our country.

America, what have you done?
Copy & pasting this, I posted this on the other thread too..but I am just so blown away right now. Wow. I am not a Trump supporter. Not even close. But the ugliness in this thread, coming from BOTH sides, is disturbing. America doesn't need Trump to destroy us. We will destroy ourselves. "A house divided against itself cannot stand". So sad. I am disappointed in a Trump presidency. But to resort to nastiness and petty name calling is ridiculous, and before someone says "but Trump did it". So...we should all do it? My in laws voted for Trump. They are very well educated. They are kind. They would give you their last dollar and go without. My MIL has the heart of a complete angel. But go ahead, tell me how she is a racist piece of shit.

Yes. An IQ test. But DEFINITELY NOT require an ID to vote because THAT would be discriminatory.

Relax and take a breath. Sheesh.
My comment had nothing to do with the outcome, just generally speaking. There is a very large segment of this country that is extremely ignorant, uneducated, misinformed, racist, and backwards and sorry but I think being able to cast a vote under those circumstances is a shame.
I'm a big believer in being well read and informed on how the world around you works. I respect everyone's right to choose who they wish however, at least make sure you are casting an intelligent vote and that you choose someone who you respect and believe in for reasons other than "he tells it like it is". Not directed at you specially, collective you.
Call me a pessimist but humanity tends to disappoint me time and time again. To vote, you should have a basic understanding of how our government works and what your candidates stand for. If you don't, stay out of the polls.
Eva - To further clarify, not everyone that voted for Trump is an uneducated dummy the same way not everyone that voted for HRC was brilliant. I've just seen so much ignorance and backwards thinking on both sides this election and I find that to be a shame especially when we are the ones who cast the votes.

Yes. An IQ test. But DEFINITELY NOT require an ID to vote because THAT would be discriminatory.
You do realize I don't actually think an IQ should be given, right? The bigger point was that not everyone who votes is informed and I find that disheartening.

Re: America, what have you done?
I'm terrified and broken hearted. He has the temperament of a child, anger issues and holds a grudge, and he has a conservative congress. If dems could have just gotten the senate, but now ....... I'm afraid. We need checks and balances
Now he is talking about Guiliani, Gingrich and Palin in his Cabinet. I'm sorry but that is horrifying.
Do I think everyone who voted for him is a racist? No, But I do think his winning reflects a widespread racism and misogyny that does exist in this country. I am in NC and the amount of folks who wholeheartedly and joyfully support him is disheartening. He retweeted hate groups. He has said disgusting things about so many minorities. Hate groups are already coming forward saying their hate now feels normalized. My fb feed is full of stories of minorities being bullied today, and even of minority children having hateful things said to them by other children. terrifying. Is this really the kind of country we want to be?

Remember when our biggest fight on this forum was over Christmas Lights.....
Times they have a changed.
PS Might be too late but have the moderators considered adding a "politics" board ? I know we don't have to click on them but sometimes it would be nice to be able to escape political threads.

Actually the market closed very high today. So much for the world crumbling.
