almost done......... (now fixed w/pics)

We have to pick the back splash and then we're done! (I think)

I love it!!! Did you knock down walls to make it larger? I want an island SOOO bad.
You have very similar taste to me. What color are the cabinets? I like that color...lighter, I am not a cherry wood kitchen cabinet kinda person.

No, we didn't knock down any walls, (our island isn't a huge island) . We would have loved to but our budget was $5k including stove,dW, microhood, granite, tile floor. The cabinets were in the kitchen were 3 years old so I couldn't take them out and I happened to like them. The floor, countertops, and appliances were a whole another story. I HATED them! I sold the old stove , range hood and dishwasher on craigslist for $450 so that too went into our kicthen makeover budget.
I haven't priced out the back splash yet, but we're already $500 over budget (sink and faucet) I forgot about those items :(. So I guess it's back to home depot or lowes to see what's on sale.

you want to here something crazy- I would NEVER think those are the same cabinets- the warmth of the Stainless and the garnite- make them look different
it looks amazing!
