Abortion as Art
warning: this is disturbing
A Yale student will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself “as often as possible” while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

Another article from the News says it is all fiction:
"The supposed senior art project of the Davenport College senior was a “creative fiction,” a Yale official said Thursday afternoon as students on campus and bloggers across the country expressed colossal outrage over what Shvarts described as a documentation of a nine-month process during which she claimed to have artificially inseminated herself “as often as possible” while periodically taking “abortifacient drugs” to induce miscarriages.
“The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body,” Yale spokeswoman Helaine Klasky said in a written statement e-mailed to the News this afternoon. "

I've read quite a bit about this.
I thought that she was examining the use of women's bodies in art.
Was she ever really pregnant at any point during the nine months?
Yale's denying that she did anything that's been reported.

And to think sickos like this can get preg. over and over again, but women who would make AMAZING mothers can try and try again and not get preg. or even carry a baby to term.

that's exactly what Yale was saying (that she made the whole thing up). Regardless, even she said she doesn't know if she was ever PG. No one said she was PG over and over again.

this was in the paper over the weekend that it was a hoax and that she was NEVER pregnant. she apparently made the whole thing up.

but to be honest, in this "culture of death" we live in, I am not completely surprised that this is showcased as "art". I mean clearly, there are enough people that think this is acceptable to even allow it to be displayed.

But Shvarts insists her concept was not designed for “shock value.”
Whether or not she was really PG, I find this very difficult to believe.
Why else would she pick such a controversial medium?
ETA: I have to believe she was never really ever pregnant. I just can't believe someone could go through something like an abortion and consider it art.
I just don't buy it.
