It's still a week away, but as of right now, it looks like Hurricane Irma is heading into the Gulf of Mexico. That means that Texas could potentially get hit again!

Hurricane Irma

Its likely going to turn right, crush Florida and go up the Atlantic Coast.

All of the current computer models seem to agree that they think it will make a sharp turn north right around Florida, either right up the center, or just past it. As of right now, it looks like Texas will avoid being hit. Hopefully they won't get any residual rain from the outskirts of the storm. It's spinning counter-clockwise, so they should be OK.

Unless things change drastically, Florida will be getting hit pretty hard...

Hurricane Irma

Many stores are already wiped out on water. I was just down in FL yesterday. Got out at the right time it seems, although I wonder what type of damage I'll have after this thing passes. Got very lucky with Matthew, but this storm is significantly stronger than Matthew.

Re: Hurricane Irma

Nervous about this one. I have friends and family all over Florida - from the panhandle down to the keys, and along both coasts.

Will be watching it closely.

Hurricane Irma

My best friend lives on the west coast of FL. They are so scared that they are flying her mom and 2 little kids up to family in Jersey while she and her husband ride it out. I am so scared for them.

I have been watching this as well. Dh has family in the Tampa area which looks like its going to be hit.

From there it's supposed to turn north but they don't know the impact yet of who is going to get hit after florida.

I am freaking out. I live on the South East coast of FL with a 3 month old- our neighborhood store was a madhouse yesterday. I've personally never been through a hurricane quite like this, but our friends and neighbors who've lived here for years and have seen it all are even worrying. I pray it turns sooner than later and drifts off into the Atlantic

It should slow down a bit when it hits the islands...at least that is the hope.

Re: Hurricane Irma

We're in FL and are watching closely. We were ok during Matthew, worst was that we lost power for about 24 hours. But just a few miles closer to shore had devastating damage.

Re: Hurricane Irma

The GFS hurricane model is running now and it shows Irma running directly up the east coast of Florida, most likely a category 3 at minimum. So everything in it's path will get hit, Miami, Palm Beach, Daytona, Jacksonville, etc. I am surprised the NHC is still showing this as a western storm.

If you are in Georgia (Savannah) and the Carolina's (Myrtle, Charleston), i would also be very concerned about the track of this thing.

Re: Hurricane Irma

I spent the morning sending friends and family members around FL supplies via Prime.

They're all dealing with work after a long weekend plus prepping their homes for the storms, as well as stores that are bare. Everyone has a lot of basic stuff, but certain little things here and there are needed.

Everything I sent will be getting there Thu and Fri before this shit hits.

Thought I'd share for FL folks and anyone who may be sitting here in NY feeling helpless.

Hurricane Irma

Latest models show Irma taking a right turn over Florida and going up the coast. They are hoping it weakens when it crosses over Cuba.
Either way it's going to be a disasterous.
And there is another storm brewing to the east of Irma.
Very scary

Yeah, I wish climate change deniers would open their eyes and see how our carbon emissions are causing these mega storms. Very scary times. I wish everyone in the path well.

I've been watching a webcam at one of my favorite places, White Bay , on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands.

This is
Cruz Bay on St. John, USVI. St Thomas is in the background.

Can see that the clouds are getting thick and the wind is definitely picking up

My grandmother moved down there in the spring. She's extremely nervous. Her first hurricane as a FL resident and it's a monster. I feel so bad (my aunt and uncle are down there also, so she isn't alone).
