 | Re: Anyone having issue with DH and... We had a lot of arguments over the name. He wanted a more ethnic name to go with our last name - I wanted a basic name to balance it out.
For a boy, he wanted his father's name (Vincent Joseph) which I couldn't stand. After many many discussions, he agreed to switch the name to Joseph Vincent - and I agreed as long as he wasn't called Joey. In fact the day he teased me and called him Joey, I started calling him Jack - and that put an end to that.
For a girl, he picked every guidette name out there. I wouldn't budge & there were huge arguments, which just let to both of us being upset and never got resolved - even as I labored we were trying to decide. In the end, it was a boy, so it was an easy choice.

Second time around, I gave him the short list of boy & girl names to choose, which I think works a lot better.

 | Re: Anyone having issue with DH and... DH and I have always had this problem - we like totally different types of names, esp. girl names. It is a constant battle, even when I am not pg we talk about it. The biggest battle is that he wants a Junior named after him - and I def. do not. I think it is important to find a name that you both agree on...but it sometimes seems like it will never happen! |

Oh Yeah! Same thing here! In the end we agreed on a girls name, couldn't agree on a boys name... but I guess there was a reason for that in the end

Tell him she already gets his name, his last name, so you get to pick her first name

Plus, you are delivering her...that has to count for something.

Yes. I'm due in a few weeks and I told my husband he could name the baby - because I thought I was having a boy. well when they said girl, I regretted this decision. In any event, up until last night, he was insisting on naming the baby Devin and I really don't like it and I came home last night and said if we can't agree on a name, we shouldn't do it just because it was a deal (lol). So last night we went through so many names and believe it or not, he caved in on Peyton (this is the name I've wanted for months). So don't get into too many fights w/him over it because they usually give in & trust me, my husband is usually pretty stubborn when he wants his way!

 | Re: Anyone having issue with DH and... Even before we got married we always used to talk about names for our kids. If it was a girl we said that her name would be Emily, then when I found I was pregnant I decided that I no longer like the name Emily for a girl. DH almost went into convulstions. He was like "what! but we agreed" I was like "at the time I liked the name, and now I'm not crazy about it. He acted like I was breaking his heart. He quickly got over it when I said I liked Olivia for a girl and he loved it right away...LOL LOL LOL
Then when we found out it was a boy he was telling me all these names and I said no to every single one of them, as he said no to every single name I suggested. Finally I suggested Matthew and he started repeating it over and over...LOL and then was like "yeah I like it" and he was really touched when I said that I wanted Thomas to be the middle name, after his cousin that died on 9-11, he was a firefighter.

DH would shoot down every name I suggested and then come back with stupid names from athletes (like Anfernee, not Anthony) so I told him that if he can't take it seriously I'm just going to make the decision and he'll have to live with it. Then he got serious and we found a name for a girl and a boy we liked and then he started up again with the stupid names. I can always tell when SportsCenter is over, that's when he has the most "ideas" |

So if we have another boy someday, we are in trouble!

I was just thinking the same thing. We had a boys name picked out and agreed on and wouldn't you know it, we're having a girl. He's nuts with his picks. Ready for this one? He was dead serious when he suggested Veruca (as in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). I was like, yeah ok, lets have her middle name be Salt

We have one name we semi-agree on and I've been using it a lot lately to see if I can like it. It's growing on me.
