So we have some answers...
We went to a Fertility Urologist today to check up on why Dh's SA was off (recap: very high sperm count, great morphology but only 27% Motility).
Here is what happened: 1. Dh has a varicosile on both sides. One is bigger a varicosile than the other. This would account for the low motility and why we can't seem to get pg. 2. Since I was pg once but m/c'ed it was either just really good luck that I got pg or the Low motility has gotton worse since late summer. 3. He has to have a repeat SA to make sure the other parameters of his SA are really that good on a regular basis or if there is more of an issue than just low motility (i.e., he had a lucky day the day of the SA And his number are usually not that good) 4. He has to have a scrotal ultrasound to confirm the Varicosile. 5. If the SA was accuracte she is not recommended surgery right away because it takes 3-6 after the surgery to see results and since his numbers count-wise and morphology-wise are so good he would be an excellent candiate for IUI where they would wash the sperm and insert the best ones into me. 6. He probably will have to surgery eventually because the problem only gets worse and TTC #2 could be even harder if he doesn't get it fixed.
So for now we are waiting until after I O sometime next week and then we will get the SA and the ultrasound and we will be back in the office to discuss our options at the start of April (just after AF would be due). So at least we got some answers. That is kind of what I thought.
BTW: SHe looked at the multivitimin that DH has been taking in conjunction with extra zinc and extra selinium (The GNC Men's arginmax for sexaul health) and said it was and excellent choice and that he should continue. Patting myself of the back for choosing that one!!!
So it is not the greatest news but at least we have a course of action and a plan for now. Sooo to us ( and everyone else). Maybe just maybe we will get pg before the next appointment anyway. She did say that it would not be impossible to concieve with those numbers. Just difficult. BUT it did happen once. THe only reason she is suggesting the IUI and eventual surgery is for our sanity.. TTCing forever is just stressful and the fact that the problem could get worse and his SA could be affected.
Anyway.. sorry so long.. Thanks for Listening!!

Re: So we have some answers...
It is great that you have some answers now. From what your doc said and from reading the experiences of others, I think IUI could be a great choice for you and your DH. It is certainly worth trying! Best of luck.

Re: So we have some answers...
The diagnosis your DH has is a common cause of male factor IF. There are ladies on the IF board that know about this and you might want to post your topic over there also. IUI is a good plan for you and is really not a big deal. I have done 4 cycles with IUI's and they are quick and painless. Good luck and !

Re: So we have some answers...
I'm so glad you have some answers...we have dealt with the same issue except it was recommended to us to have the surgery right away, if after the 6 months from the surgery we still aren't pg (May) we will move on to the RE. It is definitely a trying process but feels so much better when you have answers and a plan. Good luck this month!!! and if you ever want to chat or have any questions about the surgery FM me.

Re: So we have some answers...
Glad that it went well and you have some answers. DH has a varicocele and had it removed. He is supposed to have another surgery since it came back. Feel free to FM me with any questions.
IUI sounds like a great option for you- it can work!
