Re: 2016 Weight Loss Challenge

Just came back from visiting family in Florida and going to Disney for three days.

I'm not going to step on a scale until Thursday, my usual w/i day. I KNOW I put on a few - my pants are tight. I kind of don't care though...I walked a ton - over 100,000 steps and I had a lot of fun. And I ate a lot and drank a lot.

Back on track as of this morning. :)

Re: 2016 Weight Loss Challenge

As of this morning I have lost 7 pounds since October 1st. It was 8 before the holidays, but whatever. I feel like with all the exercise I am doing, I look better than before the holidays anyway. I will be having MAJOR cheat days on the superbowl and valentine's day and then I am going on a 2 week vacation... and it's my birthday... so I am really going to try and be strict on all the other days because this will be a really, really bad month for me and I don't want to negate all of the hard work I have been doing. Eating right and working out sounds simple, but it is truly hard. I feel so lazy and powerless sometimes when it comes to food and exercise. But i am glad to have at least lost 7 pounds. As long as I can maintain that until March I will be happy. In March I can refocus on losing.

It's life. You make the right choices most of the time and then enjoy yourself for occasions.

I think it's a good plan. Try to maintain and then refocus come March. That's pretty much my goal as well. Lose as much as I can this month and then maintain for a little while, Indulging on the weekend. Then come March, refocus to lose for the spring/summer

That's not being weak! It's a minor slip-up and besides, when we were all kids we all thought one of the perks of being an adult would be the ability to have ice cream for dinner.

It's over, it's done with, account for it, brush it off and move on :)

For those who track measurements, how do you know what you should or could be? like all of my measurements are on the small side, besides my thighs and calves. so i know i need to work on my legs but, how do I know what my thighs can or should be based on how ginormous they are now?

When you are craving something that much and don't eat it, you wind up eating so much more food to try and satisfy that craving.

Not weak. Just human !

Try a hot chocolate and make it with Milk

It should help satisfy the sugar cravings coming from the stress. And its not the worst thing to have.

It's ok to have something when you need it. The stress you're putting yourself through NOT eating it isn't good for you either!

we've given up all sugar. hot chocolate is loaded. Chat Icon

i also don't want to give in to going back to sugar just because my boss is driving me bonkers. i'm an all or nothing type of person. if i have one sweet thing, i won't stop.

going to try some meditation tonight.

I know my limitations. If I say say I'm never gonna have something again - it's the only thing I'll ever want.

I give u a lot of credit for holding strong Chat Icon

2016 Weight Loss Challenge

Does anyone watch The Biggest Loser? I used to watch it b/c I liked the tidbits of encouragement, but I stopped a few years ago b/c I can't stand all the drama. I've been watching this season b/c a dad and daughter are from my hometown in GA, and I remembered why I enjoyed the show (encouragement, etc). One thing that always strikes me is when the trainers have more of a therapy session with them - trying to get to the root of why they eat so much.

Do you think it's possible for you to get past the hang ups you have with food without really reflecting and getting to the root of the issue? I mean by just sticking to a meal plan or cutting out sugar, etc?

I know for me I've always been a little on the heavier side but I wasn't close to being considered obese (on the BMI scale) until I got married. I'm wondering how to break down that barrier so that food (and being too lazy to exercise) doesn't control my life.

I like the idea of Weight Watchers where they have group therapy sessions. I think it's sad that any sort of addiction (smoking, drugs, sex, etc) have available group sessions like AA, but anything that's food based is something you have to pay a lot of money for (Weight Watchers, Jennie Craig, etc). There should be a group that's available for food. If it were drugs or cigarettes, you could try to avoid it completely. But you can't avoid food - and I think that's the struggle.

That's awesome, Bayside!!!

Today is my w/i day - I'm up a pound (was probably up more than that from the vacation but didn't step on the scale until this morning)

It's all good. I'm eating well and will be back at the gym this weekend. :)

I woke up today at my lowest weight in like 10 years!! I am so close to my first major goal. Also my measurements were great, and now I just need to keep focusing on my thighs/calves because that still has much room for improvement! Chat Icon
