do they check in at all on fb to dinner? you can call the restaurant and pick up their tab

I have a friend like this. One year we did a donation in her and her husband's name to a charity. We picked something that we felt they would appreciate - St. Jude's because they have three children and they just love children. Since they don't "need" anything this was something that really touched them. It was a way of saying thank you because they take us out on their boat all the time, they have us over a lot, they give us really nice Met tickets, and they let us use their house on Shelter Island and then their other house on Fire Island. So, after doing wine baskets and gift baskets, etc. we thought of something more meaningful to show our appreciation. I sent it with a beautiful arrangement of flowers. The charity puts together a formal letter in their name thanking them for their donation that was made by (and then our name).
