I wash everything before my dd wears it. I wash most of my clothing before I wear it too.
Same here. I've worked in retail and I know how gross clothes can be before they are bought. I wash all of our clothes before wearing.

Re: Washing new kids clothes!
We always wash all new clothes even for adults. I thought new clothes are treated with sizing that should be washed off. Plus they are coming from factories, shipped in boxes, all over dirty stores/shopping carts. They could have been in other peoples homes and returned to the store and resold etc.... We wash everything.

Washing new kids clothes!
I wash all clothes before anyone (DD, DH, myself) wears them for a few reasons. I think a lot of baby/children's clothes feel "stiff" on the hanger and that washing them softens them up. I'm a huge texture/feel person and can't stand things that are scratchy or abrasive feeling. The big reason though is that the thought of other people trying on these clothes in the store and then me putting them on without washing them skeeves me out -- when people try on clothes they get deodorant on them, makeup, B.O., etc. Ew!

i wash EVERYTHING before wearing for myself as well, my kids are 7 & 5. I work in retail. trust me, if you knew how the clothes were handled before they were put on the floor, you would wash everything too.
clothes are made, get boxed, flown over from another country, opened at customs, put on a truck in a brown box, sent to a warehouse, sorted and then reshipped to designated store, sent via truck or plane, in a box (most items don't come wrapped in plastic, and if they do it wasn't shipped that was to begin with) store receives clothes, un boxed, hung up (things fall, people walk in clothes, picked up, thrown in a pile, then realize people see pile, hang it, sits in elevator, either makes it to the floor to sell or will go into stock room. yes stock rooms have rodent issues. clothes fall on floor if you order online, and it comes in a bag, it was bagged by the person who shipped it.

Most of the time I still wash their clothes...I do not like the smell of the store.

Washing new kids clothes!
DS1 has really bad eczema. I always wash before he wears because the few times I didn't, he broke out like crazy! I even have to wash hand-me-downs if I know they weren't previously washed in free and clear wash. If there is no skin issue, I wouldn't wash!
