New clothes and washing
When did you stop washing your child's new clothes??? Or do you still wash each new clothing item your child wears?

Re: New clothes and washing
DD is only 5 months old but since I wash all of my clothes before wearing them, I will continue to do the same for her.

Unless it's an emergency, I still wash everything before wearing, including my clothing.

Re: New clothes and washing
i always wash everything before wearing... for myself, my children and my DH.
i actually had to go home from work once, because i spilled coffee on myself and i was so skewed out about wearing clothes that weren't washed...
thats me though... even coats need to be washed

Re: New clothes and washing
DD is 9 months I don't wash anything anymore, I stopped at like 6 months.
If I want to return it I can't after it's washed.
I had a really stupid moment when she was a newborn and washed everything with the tags on, let's jut say it got pretty damn messy, so don't ever do that.

OMG... I was sooooooooo going to ask this tonight!!! You beat me to it! Neither DH nor I wash anything before we wear it, so we were just wondering when to stop for DS!
I feel so guilty when I want my DS to wear something and I haven't washed it yet!
I hate that clothes lose that "newness" when you wash it, so we've actually just been steamcleaning his clothes in the steam clean feature of our new machine before he wears them. In an emergency, though, we usually just bite the bullet and put it on him... I feel so guilty when I do that! Usually, though, there's at least a onesie underneath.
I'm think I'm going to relax the rules about washing before wearing now that he's 8 months old... meaning, I'll do my best to steam clean everything before he wears it, but when I can't I'll just let it go.

I've still been washing all of DD's clothes before she wears them. I guess it's out of habit now. She's 9 months. I don't know when I'll stop... maybe when she's a year old.

Re: New clothes and washing
I stopped at about a year. I think the outfit DS wore for his one year photo shoot at 11 1/2 months was his first non washed outfit. I cut the tags off and he wore it for the photos.

I also always wash everything before wearing, whether it's for myself, DC, or DH. Store stock rooms most likely always have mice and where there is mice, there are droppings. I don't even want to think about what lurks in the factories. Everything gets washed always.

Re: New clothes and washing
I will never stop lol. We wash every single thing that is new in this house. DH works in retail and the things that they find in the warehouse and in the boxes that come on the trucks is SO NASTY. Huge bugs from the countries that these clothes and stuff come from and they spray the clothes with chemicals to help prevent these bugs.
Men in the warehouse have worked at other warehouses and tell crazy stories too, like this one guy worked at Bob's and said they would get furniture returned all the time because customers found dead rats in their recliners and sofas

this. having worked in retail I can tell you throughout the transportation process bugs can sometimes get into the boxes and in between the clothes. depending where your clothes are from this can be bugs from all over the world. Also, jeans often have formaldehyde.
