3 month old and fever
DD is 3 1/2 months old and she has been sick for the last few days. She started running a fever on Thursday. It was 102.3. I took her to the doc Fri and they said it was viral and just give tylenol. The only other symptom she has is a slightly stuffy nose.
At what point do I call the dr back? Today at 3:30 she was 102.5 and that was only 3 hours after having tylenol. I gave her tylenol anyway and an hour later she was 103. I gave her a bath and got it down to 101. I'm nervous that the tylenol isn't even working for the 4 hours and its taking a long time to bring it down. Any advice is appreciated. I am so sad for her!

I would call the Dr's emergency line. The tylenol should be knocking her fever down more. I am sorry!

Dont think you're allowed to give Motrin to a three month old I think the earliest age for Motrin is six months old....but you're so right Motrin works so much better..,,op call the doc back just to let them know ...continue the warm baths and try running a hot shower w bathroom door closed for steam tohelp w congestion along w using a boogie sucker (nasal aspirator) to suck out any boogies and run a humidifier in the baby's room u could use some baby vapor rub on bottoms of feet w socks and along w some on the chest .... I'm so sorry I hate when babies that young get sick :( good luck

If baby is at least 11lbs you can give Motrin - 50 mg..1/2 a teaspoon. Hope your baby feels better real soon.

I would definitely call...does she have any other symptoms? Many times, at that age, a UTI is the culprit and often goes undiagnosed. My daughter was 11 weeks and a similar situation (fever that wouldn't break on Tylenol, doc said it was viral, etc) I ended up taking her to the ER and she had a UTI (ultimately caused by a problem with her bladder) hope she feels better soon!

I'd give it another day or 2 and if the baby is still running a fever, go back. Babies tend to run higher fevers and it could just pass.

After I posted this her fever spiked again to 102 and she started having trouble breathing so we called an ambulance. After some tests they found she has a uti. My poor baby. Thanks for the advice. I knew something wasn't right.
