WWYD? Bringing DC to mil

So my mil has been in the ER since early the afternoon. She about to go for surgery in another hour or so for a ruptured appendix.
I know kids can't be in ICU. But once she is in a regular room I will have to visit. Would you bring your DC?
My dd is almost 5.
My concern is being in a hospital during flu season.
If I don't go it becomes drama. But I do have put DD first.
WWYD?

I'm pretty paranoid about the flu etc but since my DC Is also 5, she is coming into contact with EVERYTHING at school so it wouldn't phase me if I had to bring her to the hospital once MIL is in a regular room. I don't think I would want her sitting in the ER if I could avoid but a regular room I would easily take her.

Is there anyone who can watch dd so you can make an appearance? And then FaceTime or Skype so she has a "visit" w grandma?

I don't have anyone to watch her. My one sitter is not available.
She will hopefully only be there for two or three days. Unfortunately she is very doom and gloom. So she gets very emotional if we aren't there. And she also doesn't understand why we wouldn't want DD there. She takes it personally. She doesn't "get" the germs factor.
I guess I will have to wait and see when she gets into a regular room. Maybe we can just do a quick 10 minute hello and brig some flowers.
Thank you for input everyone.

I would bring dc because it would cheer up your mil. Just make sure dc uses sanitizer and doesn't touch anything. I brought my ds to the hospital and he was fine. However, when we went to the rehab center, I picked up norovirus. I have very bad immunity.

Is she in the er or does she have a room? Honestly if she's in the er I wouldnt bring dc - there are too many things dc can see/hear. I went to visit my grandfather in the er when I was in my 20s and they didn't have enough curtained areas so his bed was just in the hallway and you saw people passing by being admitted, bleeding, crying etc. it's just something I would try to avoid having my dc see. Bring them for a visit when she's out of surgery and has a room.

Eta - it may depend on the hospital bc when I had to meet Dh in the er 3 years ago there was no one around and it was a wonderful experience
