I get annoyed sometimes when dds grandparents try to feed her new things that I don't feel she should have, especially when they don't ask me or dh if its ok first. I guess one little taste of coffee wouldn't hurt, but really what's the point of seeing if a baby likes coffee? It's not like they can have more if they do like it.
I completely agree with this. What was the point? She wasn't going to get more, so why do it? I feel like sometimes grandparents want to get some of the "firsts" for themselves so they do stuff like this. It wouldn't fly with me, personally.

My dad does this with his espresso! I don't say anything because it is very tiny but my dh does get really annoyed.

How would you react?
We're Hispanic so it's common for kids to drink coffee at a young age. DD loves it and just yesterday had a small cup so I wouldn't even bat an eyelash.

this exactly. the other day when i wasn't around, my SIL ground up a cheese doodle and gave my 8 month old DD a taste. i didn't say anything but i mentioned it to DH later and said i don't want her eating that. She gives her son junk food here and there and what you do with your child is your business, and while i'm not pulling my hair out that you let her try it, she's not getting it again from me, so what was the point of letting her try it at all?

OMG this reminds me of the commercials for Luvs- depicting how with your first child you are ULTRA careful, do everything by the book, then by the time the second comes you are like, yeah, whatever!
This one is my FAVORITE!

Re: How would you react?
totally me
I dropped her at daycare yesterday and she started pulling up to stand on a laugh and learn house. Another (first time) mom looked at me and said "she might knock it over ... careful!" I smiled, shrugged and said "ehhh, she has to learn at some point" Same thing in the crib. She stands up now but has a hard time getting down. My MIL wants to help her and I say no she needs to learn!
When it was my son, I had cozy clouds of comfort under his tush just in case
