Counting Kicks??

So I just got one of my daily emails from whattoexpect.com saying that now that I've reached almost 29 weeks I should start counting kicks. Twice a day I should be counting 10 kicks within an hour. If I don't feel that, try again after eating a snack but not feeling 10 kicks in 2 hours warrants a call to the doctor.

Does this seem extreme to anyone else?? Should I really be counting daily like this? I thought feeling movement each day was enough.

I've personally never counted kicks with my pregnancies. My Dr. never brought it up.

Same here. Mine said I should feel him all throughout the day and if anything changes from the norm to have juice and lay down and make sure I feel him then. If all else fails, go to l&d. I actually did go there once bc of concerns over feeling him but it wasn't because I wasn't feeling him- just a lot less and my ob said to go as a precaution. Turns out my fluid level was low so he didn't have enough to move around. It was during the heat wave- but make sure you always stay hydrated!

Re: Counting Kicks??

I only counted kicks if I didn't feel DS that day...but I would not count every day that was once in awhile when I didn't feel or notice the movements.

My OB only wants me to make sure I am feeling the baby through out the day - that sounds very stressful and also who has that kind of time LOL

With an anterior placenta this so isn't gonna happen :(
My OB said as long as I feel her at least once everyday if not to call. They have no problems having me in come in just to monitor either with sono or last week I had a NST as I didn't feel her at all in 24 hours. Unfortunately not feeling her some days or not as much is normal in my pregnancy so far :(

I'm not counting..I feel her in there all day. I know her routine so if something seems off I would know regardless of kick count

I never had to do kick counts. With DS especially towards the end, my doctor just said to call if I wasn't feeling regular movement. But he never said to do kick counts. I feel like doing them would give me anxiety!!!
