Crashing to ask a Q to anyone who lives in an apartment...
Do you control your own heat? We don't and last night it was so cold I turned to DH and was like "wtf are we going to do when we have a baby? We can't let it be this cold..."
So, how do you plan on handling this?

Just use a space heater. I keep my DS room cool anyway. Too warm is not good

We do. We can control our own heat. We will be buying a house by the summer so hopefully it will be a nonissue. For now, can you ask your landlord for a separate thermostat if you pay a little extra?

It's a super old building with like one boiler for everyone or something....anyways I don't think that's an option. We MAY be moving in the summer but most of the buildings in our area are the same deal because they are pre-war. I guess if we don't move or end up in the same situation we'll have to invest in a good space heater. DH was concerned about their safety but we don't have too many options.
Thanks all!

Re: Crashing to ask a Q to anyone who lives in an apartment...
we live in an apt and dont control our heat either. we found it chilly in our apt today too. we plan to keep the babys room door closed so that when the heat does come up it stays in the room instead of maxing with the cooler air of the kitchen and bathroom that dont have heat.
but what we also did, we noticed that our windows were drafty so we sealed them up...nothing crazy or expensive just got heavy duty plastic from home depot and taped it up to cover the entire window. DH thought i was crazy when i did this 2 years ago, but when its windy you can hear the plastic rustling which just proves that the cool air was getting into the apt. its not the prettiest and it also limits the sunlight you get in the apt, but if its just the nursery you are worried about try just sealing up that window

We got a space heater cause we had the same problem...we got on that had a temperature control so if it got to hot it shut off as well if it fell over it shut off, which was to mainly give us piece of mind

I wouldn't worry so much. People have been raising babies in apts for years without issues.
We have the opposite problem - our apt is usually too hot in the winter! We usually have the windows open. We will have room thermometers to make sure the baby is kept in an appropriate temperature, and will just bundle him up or unbundle him to keep him regulated.

We control our own heat but DD's room is normally cold anyway so we use a small space heater in there.

this is how my old building was. It would get too hot and we'd have to open the windows but then sometime in the middle of the night they would turn off the heat and it would be cooler so we just just did the best with what we could with bundling/unbundling
