temp question--second temp spike
This is my first month temping, and I find it really interesting!
Last week seemed perfect. I got a positive OPK early Friday, and a very noticeable temp increase Sat morning. My temps went from 97.3-97.5 (97.3 on friday) to 98.0 on Saturday, 98.2 on Sunday, 98.0 Monday and Tuesday, and then today, it was 98.6, which is much higher than it's ever been. My OPKs turned negative Friday night, so everything supported that I O'd on Friday (CD11), until today. Is it possible that I didn't O until yesterday (CD15)? That wouldn't make sense with the earlier OPKs and earlier temp rise (that was sustained.) I guess I'll know more tomorrow when I see if today was just a fluke, but what do you guys think? (btw- if it matters my cycles are short to normal. They've never been long)

Re: temp question--second temp spike
I would not think the second spike was for ovulation, just a higher temp, as someone told me yesterday, one temp is not so significant, it's a pattern, I would hope for the best!

Re: temp question--second temp spike
Your temp should spike after you O and then go back down. I'm not sure why you'd have a 4 day spike. Also you said you Oed Friday until today. But you only ovulate once, on a single day - not 5 days. Is it possible environmental or other factors caused the 5 day temperature spike?

Just want to clear this up- after ovulation your temps are supposed to stay elevated the entire time until you get AF. Then your temp will plummet. The time between ovulation and AF is called your luteal phase. If you saw a second temp spike, that could be a very good sign!

i wouldnt read into it as a good sign - i had cycles where i had the additional "spike" (ie. triphasic temps) and wasn't pregnant, and then i had cycles with no spike and was pregnant.
i would just assume the spike is a random high temp. there is no specific rhyme or reason for daily temp fluctuation. temping is meant to show a pattern, not to analyze the temps of each individual day. as long as your high temps show a pattern of ovulation, there is virtually NO other reliable pattern to be seen from temping.

Right. I didn't mean I ovulated all that time. Just the once and my temp stayed high like it was supposed to. It only drops when af comes. But with the second spike I think it is supposed to happen at implantation but I am only 5dpo so too soon for that I think. It made me worried that I didn't ovulate Friday and just yesterday and then our bding would be off...
