Refi With Wells Fargo-Anyone ?
Has anyone recently Refinanced with Wells? They are TAKING FOREVER!! I know they recently pulled out of the 3rd party brokers (and of course we are using one) but we were told anything in the pipeline would be worked on. They are dragging their feet!
We should have had a clear to close WEEKS AGO!!

Yes. Did they extend your lock without a fee?

Oh yes they do! The day before we were set to close, they gave us a list of 6 items they needed before we could continue. The day before! Never again with them

Re: Refi With Wells Fargo-Anyone ?
I pulled out of the regular refinance with them because they lied about my closing costs and were taking forever!
And an FYI - A coworker of mine did a three step no appraisal no closing costs program with them and closed within 30 days. I called and inquired about that and we qualified and closed within 30 days...NO FEES! I was upset the person I originally spoke with was going to do a regular refi with me and charge us when we qualified for that program!
Good luck!

I really like WF and always had a great experience. I did the three step twice and my rate went down by over a point for free which was great! I had a 2007 rate which was low 6's.
They put a note on the side of my monthly statement about this program which is how I found out about it.
I tried to do it a 3rd time but they told me that they changed it to only loans that were as of a certain date and mine was too old I think, dont remember. Everyone with WF should call and find out if they qualify for the 3 step! So easy too, just signed a few papers and mailed them back in the prepaid envelope. No appraisal was required!

And be persistent when you call because one person said she didn't see anything on my file showing I qualified and then I spoke with someone else and they told me we did qualify. There was a purchase date specification. We purchased in August of 2006 with a rate of 6.525 and had refinanced through our broker (big expensive mistake!) in 2008 or 2009 and got a rate of 5.625 and just a few months ago did the 3 step no closing costs, no appraisal, etc. with a rate of 4%! Def worth looking into!

Re: Refi With Wells Fargo-Anyone ?
I didn't do it through Wells Fargo. However, the bank through which I did it said that our payments would be made to Wells Fargo, so they are affiliated with them in some way.
It took longer for us to refinance than it did for us to buy our house. They kept losing papers, and they kept requesting papers that we had sent about 12 times. They would also keep requesting new documents that they had said they didn't need in the past.
When DH and I were away on our belated honeymoon, they suddenly called us and said that if we didn't close within a few days, we would lose our rate. They never told us this before, so we had to schedule a closing during our honeymoon. The bank told me that I needed a few items which I didn't have since we were away. I told them this...they said they would be to the closer. Then they said they spoke to him, and it was fine. When we arrived at closing, the man had no idea what I was talking about.
Really dreadful experience.

Refi With Wells Fargo-Anyone ?
Glad it is not just us. We got our commitment in MAY! YES MAY! there were a few conditions in addition to the subordination of our 2nd loan. Everyone warned us the subordination takes MONTHS and it literally took....24 hours for the subordination approval and for it to be fed'ex! 24 hours that was it!! we were supposed to close mid june, then we were told before our rate expired on July 9th. We were able to extend the rate with no fees however here we are almost the beginning of August and we still havent received the "clear to close" EVERYDAY they request something. And we get them what the need INSTANTANEOUSLY and then we dont here for at least 3 days and then its usually with another request. I have had it!!

Is this the HARP 2.0? Thats what we are doing. No appraisal, and no out of pocket closing costs. What is their problem???? We are going froma rate of 6.5% to 4.125%

I don't think it's the HARP program. I will try to find it online. I know that you are guaranteed to close within 30 days with the 3 step program. They mail you everything to sign, you sign and notarize it and mail it back, and that's it!

No, its not HARP. I think you need a certain amount of equity for a free "3 step" but I cant remember!!!

FYI - with the 3 step program the interest rate will be a little higher than the traditional refiance.

True. With our regular refi we would have gotten a rate of 3.875 and with the 3 step we got 4.

True! It depends on how much you will save to justify going traditional and paying closing. For me it wasn't worth it just to save a little bit more.

We started in August 2010 and closed in December 2010. But we used a broker independent of wf.

Re: Refi With Wells Fargo-Anyone ?
Well thank god we FINALLY closed about 2 weeks ago. They took so long and were so annoying BUT bc they took SO LONG we go to relock in our rate even lower than we thought originally so it was worth it in the end.
