What's your favorite type of roll? What don't you eat? Where do you get it?

Re: Let's talk Sushi!!!
i love sushi! we just had it last night for DHs birthday
im pretty boring though...i stick with spicy tuna, spicy salmon, shrimp tempura. i love toro (fatty tuna), yellowtail and hate eel!
my favorite sushi spot is a small hole in the wall in forest hills, called Sushi Yasu. the sushi chef makes random rolls for me and they are always delicious

Re: Let's talk Sushi!!!
I could live on sushi but I don't do eel, at all.
Spicy tuna roll topped with crunchy tuna. Yellowtail roll with scallions Lobster tempura roll with mango sauce Deep fried spicy tuna roll Crazy tuna roll
For appetizer I always like to get toro tartar or a crab salad.
We go to Roppongi for convenience, Aji53 and Nisen for a night out.

Re: Let's talk Sushi!!!
my favorites are spicy tuna and eel rolls or sushi or sashimi. I like those two the most, but I enjoy most anything. I do not like california rolls or anythign with fake crab or fake in general.

There is a place in Farmingdale that is also a deli but its good - Quintet.
They have a bonsai roll with tuna, crab, avo & cuc. So Good!!! I also get shrimp & avocado from them too.
When I went to Vegas, my friend took me to an all you can eat (in 2 hours) lunch and it was SOOOO good. You could get 1/2 rolls to try something.
NO EEL!!!
I don't like salmon in sushi

Re: Let's talk Sushi!!!
My favorite roll was some kind of monkey roll that I got at a sushi place in islandia. It had banana in it with some fish combo that you would never think would work but the pairing was spot on. Other than that, on the cooked side, my favorite is either a nice, warm, Spider Roll or a Lobster Tempura Roll. Raw rolls are usually spicy "anything" or salmon avocado. Many times, you can't go wrong with a nice, yummy Rainbow Roll. I don't usually like too much cucumber filler. For me, it tends to make my rolls a little sour. I usually stay away from eel. It is not my favorite. However, I will say that I had eel down in South Beach and it was delicious. It was not soaked in the sauce that it is usually in up here so I guess it is all in how it is prepared. There is not much I haven't had or won't try but I do not like Mackerel (I find it too fishy for me) and I tried Sea Urchin because I heard it was a delicacy. I couldn't even swallow it. My favorite sushi place is Kotobuki. For me, no other place can compare with their freshness and price. I do on occasion go to Nishiki in Selden and on Fridays I take out from Haiku in Riverhead.

I've been looking for sushi near my office in Melville and the closest was Main Street Farmingdale but if you're saying this Quintet place has good sushi, I will have to try it! It's so much closer!

Re: Let's talk Sushi!!!
I'm a somewhat recent sushi convert - about 3 years. I only like hand rolls. Sashimi not so much.
I LOVE EEL!! There's just something about it that's so good. And the sauce! YUM!
I hate Spicy Tuna or any roll with fruit or spicy mayo.
I like rolls that have a variety of fish in them like a Rainbow Roll. One of my favorites though is Philadelphia Roll. The whole concept of eating salmon, cream cheese, seaweed, and rice is strange but I think it's delicious!
I love Kotobuki and Takara in Islandia has the same menu as Kotobuki. I've had really good sushi at Kinha in Garden City as well as Kashi in Huntington. Very fresh and tasty!

Re: Let's talk Sushi!!!
My favorite roll of all time is the Pink Special from Tenjin in Syosset. It's tuna, avocado, crabmeat, onion, and some other delicious stuff I'm forgetting. It's incredible.
