has anyone used chalkboard or magnetic paint?

I'm thinking of using chalkboard paint or magnetic paint in our den. Has anyone used either of these? Does chalkboard paint clean well? Do big things stick to magnetic paint?

I painted an old mirror I had with chalkboard paint and hung it in my kitchen. Inspired by a pinterest diy craft I saw. I use it to plan my weekly meals. Love it and cost me 3 dollars to make!

I was just going to post this question.. thanks for asking.. How well can they draw on it though. I inherited an art easel and the side that has the chalkboard on it is all yucky and the chalk doesn't draw very well.. I was going to paint it with the chalkboard paint to see if that works better. Those that have used it, do you recommend the spray paint or the regular paint?

A friend of mine bought some inexpensive wine glasses for a wine and cheese and then used chalkboard paint to cover the base so we could then all write our names on our glasses-- really cool idea!

I write on it alot. Still the same as when I painted it in August. I'm sure if I need to touch it up later down the line, it would be pretty easy. I used the regular paint, Martha Stewart Brand. It was on 3 dollars at Michael's. I used a sponge brush that I had from stenciling to apply it. Over a mirror, you need at least 3 coats. Let it dry completely between coats b/c if you don't the next coat lifts the first one and you are back at square one again.

I did the magnetic paint in my playroom. I did a part of a wall and used 2 cans...maybe 4 coats. It holds magnets but nothing too big or bulky. I think there are pictures in my album so you can get an idea of what size took 2 cans.

I have chalkboard in my kitchen, the old owners did it. We blocked the edges with trim to match the rest of the trim. I use it for dinner menus, birthday signs. Washes well.
