Flu shots
Sorry, I know this topic is like  at this point! But just curious- has anyone gotten the flu shot at a pharmacy? Like Walgreens or CVS or something? My OB doesn't offer it, and my GP is not very close to our house, so it's not convenient to get it there. I feel like the simplest thing to do would be to get it at one of the pharmacies, but for some reason I feel weird about that. Like it's not legit enough if it's not coming from a doctor. I'm being ridiculous, right? Anyone talk to their OBs about this?

I got it at Walgreens. A nurse was the one that gave it to me. Dont feel weird about it. The shot is totally legit at these places

This year I got it at my OB but, last year, I got it at CVS and it was fine.

I asked my OB about this. He said the only difference is the ones in pharmacies have perservatives in them, nothing harmful.

You can request the perservative free shot. I did this! their was an extra fee of a couple dollars.

My OB doesn't offer the shot so I went to CVS and got the mercury-free shot. This was about 6 weeks ago and no complications.

MY OB recommended getting it at my GP's office ! I dont really see the difference in getting it in the doc's office v. the pharmacy BUT since its easy enough for me to go to my GP I am just doing it there. If it was a PIA to get to my GP I would have just gone to teh pharmacy.
As a PP said, they do offer the preservative free kind at some pharmacies..i.e. Walgreens/ Duane Reade. Just clal ahead to make sure they have it in stock.

I got mine at Target. They had to order the preservative free one and it was $24.99.
They were very nice and helpful when I went in.

When I went to my OB for my 12 week appointment, they actually had people from Rite Aid there giving the shots to anyone who needed. I would figure if the pharmacy folks are good enough to be hosted by my OB then going to the pharmacy should be just as safe!

got mine at rite aid. they had to order the preservative free one for me, but that only took one day. It cost 28 dollars.
I was sick that night and the next day but was fine after that.

Check your LO's ped's office. All of us got our flu shot at the pediatrician's office and it was covered by insurance. Plus, I just found out I was pregnant and I was given the preservative free shot without hesitation.

Really?? I have GHI and didn't even pay a co-pay (yet). I wonder if I will get a bill in the mail from my OB saying that my insurance didn't cover it....
