Thanks so much for being so carin and giving me hope. I really want to be as hopeful as I can.

But what is up with this "huge" cyst. Anyone ever experience this with a pregnancy?

cysts are so much more common than i ever thought... they go away on their own a lot...

obviously its hard not to worry... but until you get your blood test back theres SOOOO much unknown... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Im still on the rollercoaster

Ok here is my suggestion. RELAX the best you can. Trust me I know this is hard.

You need blood work at least twice to see the actual # and if it's doubling. That is the key. From what I have read the hcg has to be around 1000 to even see anything. If you're only 4 or so wks you would be + on the tests and only show uterin(?) thickness. It's not until like 5wks you see just a sac and a heartbeat can be anywhere from 6-7wks. It just depends. The problem is you can o weird. According to the lmp you may be 7wks, but if you oed 2-3wks late your only 4-5wks. I went through this a few years ago and it was horrible. The other poss. is that you have a chemical preg or a blited(?) ovum. They'll figure it out since it sounds like they are doing blood work. If you need to chat fm me and I can tell you about my rollercoaster in sept of 08.

Re: Im still on the rollercoaster

I just wanted to say that the EDD wheel calculator thing is crap.

They gave me an EDD based on that, and wouldn't listen that I have rather long cycles.

When I had the internal sono, the docs were convinced the pregnancy might not be viable because it wasn't measuring in accordance with my EDD by my last period.

Turns out, I was almost 3 wks earlier than they estimated, because of my cycles.

I had 2 wks of utter terror and worry for nothing.

I hope you are just very early...lots of luck to you!

how did they figure you were at 7 weeks?

did they give you your beat # from your blood test the other day?Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No he just asked me when my last period was and then he looked at this wheel things and said In shy of 7 weeks and due date is Nov. 2nd.

It is possible that you could have ovulated late - did you use OPKs?

When I went in for a beta my old OB's office told me it was positive but my HCG numbers were very low and she would recommend not telling anyone I was pregnant. Chat Icon I asked what the numbers were, and she said 142. I told her that I have long irregular cycles and based on my own calculations of symptoms and POAS, I estimated myself to be 4w, not 8w (as I would be based on LMP). 142 is right on track for 4w, but very low for 8w. They brought me in for a second beta 5 days later and my numbers went up to 1200+ again, consistant with having ovulated late and consistent with my first beta rising as it should.

I didnt have a sono until 3 weeks after my first beta but my OB was *STILL* going off of LMP and put me at 11w until the lab did a dating/viability sono and confirmed that I was only 7w, consistent with my betas, my POAS timing, and everything else.

I am now 17w1d and am still measuring right on track with my EDD from the dating sono and not at all on track with my LMP. I have since switched practices and they told me not to provide my LMP when asked because it just confuses people and just to write 'irregular cycles' and my EDD.

Yes, LMP may be accurate for most but not for everyone. It is entirely possible that you ovulated late and didnt have a perfect 28 day cycle. I wouldnt give up hope yet...

Wow I can't believe this actually happens, but thank you for telling me your story. I am pretty sure I ovulated late. My cycles are usually 32-38 days and I believe I may have ovulated somewhere around 32-32 days. My last period was Jan 25th so I think it is possible am still really earlyChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Im still on the rollercoaster

i'm no expert but i have never heard of a cyst creating a false positive.

it sounds like your cycles are long, especially this last one and you definitely cannot go based on your LMP. you are more than likely 4-5 weeks and it's too early to see anything. Chat Icon

I would NOT lose hope at all. You know where you are in your cycle, and obviously the docs haven't taken the time to figure that out. I was surprised in your previous post when you said they estimated 7 weeks since you just got your BFP. If I were you I would just try to be patient, keep testing to keep your sanity, and hope that eventually your doctor catches on to how far along you are. It really sounds like you are just very early and ovulated much later than you thought. Have you had irregular periods in the past? If so I would mention it to your dr. I know when my ob was calculating my edd she asked if my periods were regular and then based on both the sono and my lmp she gave me a dd.

Re: Im still on the rollercoaster

crashing... I have long cycles too. Got my first bfp on CD51 after several negatives. I kept testing though because we were TTC and morning sickness had already started so I was trying to be hopeful but kept getting BFNs - I had already filled my next clomid script. Once I finally got a BFP, my OB saw me right away - did an u/s and took blood two days apart. He knew my cycles were irregular so he did not estimate how far along I was based on my cycles. That first u/s was around 4 weeks - just a thickened uterine lining, which he said was consistent with a very early pregnancy. Blood work confirmed it, numbers were increasing, had another u/s two weeks later, saw my little flickering rice grain, the heartbeat was slow so he wanted to do another one a week later so we did and the heartbeat was better... I now have a 14-month old. it definitely happens - if your cycles are irregular, then you have to go by the sono and not your cycle - otherwise, I would've been pregnant for a full year!
