Re: wwyd
Don't panic. I understand you don't have tenure, but it's illegal for your job to get rid of you simply because you're expecting.
I'm a teacher as well, granted, at a public school, and I missed the first 6 weeks of school when I had my DS. The rest of the year was FINE.
Is there anyone you can talk to at work? Talking with my colleagues reallly helped me when I was stressing about this stuff.
Good luck to you!!!

Re: wwyd
I'm a teacher, but for the NYC DOE. I can understand the whole responsibility to the parents and your students, but if you really want a baby, I would tell you to keep TTCing and just see what happens. Good Luck! It is a tough decision!

Re: wwyd
If I was you I would continue to TTC. Since it is so hard to get PG I dont think you should miss a few months. The parents should be understanding of your situation (especially the moms!) and if they are not then they are not nice people.
I have a job where there are certain times of the year are not ideal and Im sure if I was on maternity during those times some of my coworkers might get annoyed but I wont stop TTC for them. I have been been trying way too long.
Good luck with your decision.

I'm a teacher as well so I'm in the same boat as you. In my opinion I wouldn't hold off...To me, having my own family is more important. Good Luck!

I teach, so I get where you're coming from, BUT, I would never put ttc on hold for my job. My personal life comes first. Besides that, you never know how long it's going to take. We started trying a year ago.
I would go about your life and the school/parents, etc will just have to deal with it.

Thanks girls. I'm going to continue, but not taking it super intense the next two months anyway due to the holidays. We'll be visiting my family during my fertile period in December, so that will be hard anyway. A certain case that happened at my school does have me nervous. I don't want to get into details on here, but it was borderline illegal, BUT if that were to happen to me, I probably don't want to work in such an badly supported environment.
I def think you're making the right decision!!! Good luck!!
