Need opinions or just reassurance.

I am one who likes to plan ahead because I can get very stressed about worrying about things. Not good for someone ttc but that is me. Chat Icon

I had an interview today for a teacher position in a daycare. The hours are long. They are not your usual hours for a daycare teacher. I would be lifting the kids and changing them. I am afraid that if I am pregnant or when I do become pregnant that the long hours are going to be rough or that the lifting will not be a good thing or end in miscarriage. What do you girls think? Am I sounding crazy? Haha

Even though the hours are really long the pay is good for a daycare teacher. I was actually shocked by the amount. I figured if I accept I could pay off some bills and start putting money aside for when we do have a baby since it can get so expensive.

Do you girls think the long hours will be ok with all the lifting and changing of the kids? Its one thing if I am not pregnant I can handle it but I am not sure what it will be like once pregnant. Sorry this is so long and I hope it makes sense. I really hate turning down a job when in this economy it is so hard to get one. I am also afraid of telling a new job if I am pregnant..haha Alright I am sorry I am rambling.

Well long hours and taking care of babes and kids is pretty tiring but if its a good job it may be worth it. The lifting and changing would probably only be a problem later on in a pregnancy (I would think). Good luck!

Thank you. I know the hours is what is bothering me. They are 9-6 and I am assuming 1 hour lunch break. I forgot to ask. I said to DH that women who aren't teachers work these hours every day so I should not be complaining about it..haha

I would go for it. Lots of women work demanding jobs while pregant. I'm no expert, but I don't think most miscarraiges are caused by anything the mom does. As for telling them if you do get pregnant, what do you have to lose? Hopefully they'll be understanding! Good luck with your decision!

I think you should be ok, think about mom's who already have a few LOs at home. You might feel better knowing you are finacially secure, one less worry in that respect. I know it is hard for all of us but we have to live our lives. You could always quit if it wasnt working out.

Thank you. I hope they will be understanding as well. Its not so much their reaction I am worried about. If they don't like it then the worst that happens is I lose my job. I just feel bad getting hired and then saying in a few months oh I am pregnant...haha That is a big if though. Like I said in my pp I worry about stupid things way in advance. I wish I could be like DH and let things roll off my back so easily. Nothing bothers him.

This is a big thing for me being financially secure and I feel like I can save a lot working here.

My mom also said I could always quit if it isn't working but I hate to do that...haha I am such a weirdo. I wish I could not stress and not let anything bother me when there is nothing to worry about at this moment.

Go for it, I am a elem teacher and still end up working 7:30-4:30 or 5. Those hours aren't bad at all.

Thank you. I just was afraid with being pregnant and the lifting I wasn't sure how I would handle it since this would be my first time. I am sure I would get used to the hours too.
