JUST NEED TO VENT AND OPINIONS

My MIL she has quite a few grandchildren but lives upstate and most of them live in Long Island she complains that she doesn't get to see them that often and that MArissa (my daughter) isn't really gonna know her cuz they dont' see her alot. So my FH and I take trips up to see her at least once a month and she doesn't bother with my daughter she will be all into her for like 10 15 mintues and thats it. But when her other grand daughter that lives upstate comes over she makes a big deal about her and pays no mind to marissa and I don't think thats right cuz you see her all the time and never really see my daughter. Plus when she comes down to the city she will say she is gonna stay by me or one of her other children to spend time with the grandchildren but then stays at her sisters and goes to bingo 24 - 7. She has been complaining that my mom (lives in PA)had her for a week and FH father and stepmother (live in LI) get her every now and then for a weekend here and there and its not fair that she don't get a chance with her so I jsut told her that bingo is more important then your grandchildren and when we come up there my daughter gets pushed a side. She didn't know what to say cuz she knew it was the truth. SO just recently Fh Stepdad was talking to FH and he wants to take my daughter upstate for the week. I am not to keen on it but FH said to let her go and see how it goes I am very iffy about it cuz like I said MIL doesn't pay her mind I know Fh stepfather is very good with her and his sister will be there after she gets home from work. I don 't kn ow if I should let her go or not.

I am so sorry that you have to deal with this.

My sister is in the same boat. She lives in TX, MIL lives in Rochester. The woman (even with the distance) has NEVER made any effort to visit her and the kids, or even get to know them. She actually sent the kids' pictures back to my sister when she sent some to her and told her not to bother because "What are they going to do for her??" What a heartless soul. She's another bingohalic. She doesn't have the $$ to send the kids a little something at Christmas or to visit (she's not that old or disabled, she's only mid sixties) but she has a few hundred a week to blow on bingo. It's like a coke addiction. My BIL is not suprised by her actions because she was a crappy mother but my sister doesn't get it because we grew up with two sets of very active and very invovled grandparents and this woman's lack of interest hurts her deeply. I'm so sorry, I wish there was something I could say.

Thats what I am saying my parents and grandparents were always there for us and loved being around their grandchildren. Both my grandmothers are still alive and both are older then my MIl one is in her mid 80's and the other is in her late 70's and hold my daughter and paly with her and love being around her but my MIL who is in her mid 60's says she can't hold her cuz she is too heavy hello your other grand daughter is only a couple of pounds lighter then my daughter My MIL tells me I should watch out that my daughter don't get fat I said listen my daughter has a good appitite and I am goign to feed her your other grand daughter doesn't eat a dam thing I think she needs to go to a doctor

I am so pi$$ed I can't stand her there are otehr issues with her that I have had but doesn't haveto do with this subject it has to do with our wedding and marissa's christening back in JAnuary
