Sunday QOTD

Being Sunday, I thought I'd ask a religious question. Do you plan on baptizing or doing a naming ceremony for your LO? If you aren't religious yourself, do you still plan on doing this? Why? Or do you plan on having some other introduction to spiritual life, or not?

We plan on baptizing LO Catholic. DH is Greek Orthodox, but we got married in the Catholic church, and though is family is religious, he has no involvement with his church. I don't go to to church every week, but I try to go. So when LO comes, their religious upbringing will be my responsibility, so we are baptizing them Catholic.

Re: Sunday QOTD

This has been the topic of conversation lately. DH and I were raised different religions, but I think we are going to chose DHs religion to baptise DC. I have some strange reasons why I want to though. We aren't too religious, so it doesn't matter to us which religion DC gets baptised in, its just that DH is catholic and in the area we live there are a lot more catholics than lutheran (which i am) so for selfish reasons for my DC, we are choosing catholic, so their friends will be in the same religion and make all their sacrements together. i also like the formality of the catholic church as opposed to lutheran. idk why, i just do.

Re: Sunday QOTD

dh and i have talked about this alot. I am not religious...never baptized or brought up in any religion. Dh was raised Catholic but is not religous...and doesn't really believe in it.

I have said I would like to baptize my kids bc I know for me I always sorta wished I had been brought up in some type of religion and then could decide for myself if I wanted to follow it. DH says he doesnt want to baptize our kids bc it would be hypocritical to baptize them in a religion neither of us believes in. Although, his family will not be happy with this...i now agree. So we dont plan to baptize the kids, but we do want to raise them and teach them about many religions...that way they have information and can decide for themselves what they want to believe in.
