spinoff to prenatals
what is special about prenatals v. a regular womens one-a-day? I've been taking a women's multivitamin for a while and probably have another month or so left. wondering whether to switch to prenatals when I run out or buy another 3 months of this before switching. I checked the back and my one-a-day has 100% daily folic acid, among other things.
what is so special about prenatals? should i just switch when I run out even though I'm not going off the pill until Jan?

Re: spinoff to prenatals
Some doctors say there's no difference. My doctor put me on prenatals because according to her, they have a different delivery system for the folic acid and are formulated for you to absorb it better. Other doctors believe that a vitamin is a vitamin and tell you to take anything, including Flintstones.
I like my doc and trust her so I'm going with her advice, but it's all up to you.
ETA: she put me on prescription prenatals. She wasn't okay with me taking Target brand prenatals, which I had been doing for the past year.

Re: spinoff to prenatals
I'm not exactly sure what's different in your one-a-day vs a prenatal. I know that folic acid is key... but that 100% might be based on a woman's daily requirement when she is not pregnant or immediately TTC. If you aren't planning on going off BCP til January, then I would finish up your regular vits and go with an OTC prenatal after that. I've been taking the target ones for 2 years now and like them alot.

Re: spinoff to prenatals
DHA is very important and that is in prenatals, it is also in fish oil.
