Basal Thermometer
I'm wondering if I should get one and start temping...
The reason I have delayed in doing it is - here is my normal sleep pattern.
During the week - i typically get up at 8:52-8:55 and go to my normal day.
On the weekends, I tend to sleep until UNGODLY hours....because during the week, dave & i don't sleep much (we're night people). We tend to go to bed anytime between 1:30 & 2:30 AM.
On normal weekends, I'll get up between 11:00 & 1:00 - but this past weekend, i'm almost ashamed to admit i didn't get up until 5:00 on Saturday (though the week was TERRIBLE for sleep, i didn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night all week).
So - would this be a good thing for me to do or not? Would it be stupid for me to only temp Monday through Friday???
I could try to wake up earlier just to temp on Saturday & Sunday - but there are times when i'm in a sleeping pill induced coma...so not sure i would be awake enough to temp and write it down..

Re: Basal Thermometer
i don't have a response for the basal thing but i'm similar to you in that i sleep late on the weekend- i'm a night owl also.
However, i go to bed @11 weeknights and up at 6am. I'm going to make a big effort to go to bed by 11/12ish on weekend nights and wake up by 8am. I read that when your sleeping at all diff times and your sleep is not consistent that it cause alot of stress on the body, which is not condusive to TTC.

Re: Basal Thermometer
i would maybe try it for a week or two on the weekends just set the alarm wake up and take your temp you shouldnt even get out of bed, i bought a themometer at the drug store and it stores the temp till you use it again, so i never wrote it down i would just retrieve it later in the day and record it good luck

Re: Basal Thermometer
the thermometer has no name on it but i did i search and this is exactly what mine looks like, from the amazon website for $9.50 but just check the packaging to see if it says Digital Recall Memory and it will save the last reading

Re: Basal Thermometer
I bought one from CVS. It's the CVS brand basal thermometer.
I also tend to sleep late on the weekends while on week days I normally get up at 5:45.
I set my alarm for 5:45 on the weekends at a pretty low volume, reach over to the nightstand, take my temp (while still half asleep), and then as soon as it beeps I throw it back onto the nightstand.
When I get up at whatever time I wake up on the weekend, I just check and record the temp (hold down the on button). It really doesn't disrupt my sleep at all!
(And the best part - then you can come join us on FF and be a chart-stalker with the rest of us!)

this is what i did too when i was temping. it was tough the first week but after a while, i got used to it and couldn't even remember waking up to take my temp b/c i was half asleep while doing it. i would just fall right back to sleep.
