moral issues notwithstanding (this is govt. not church)
it would free up police forces, put PIMPS out of business, be safer and cleaner for both the working ladies, the Johns (and anyone else that loves either group) and would provide the economy with untold tax revenue.
even during the Great Depression, people paid to get their freak on!
many other countries (and even some states) have regalized prostitution.
it is NOT the business of the govt whether there is a cheating or moral issue in terms of family. and legal or not, that problem will always be there.
Prostitution IS the oldest profession. it's not going anywhere.
ITA.
But I still wouldn't let DH go to one.

Hmmmm, maybe, I mean strip clubs are legal, then why not go that one step further and legalize it. It would hopefully resolve a lot of the issues that were mentioned above.

Well I am not dedicated to any one answer, but in cities where it is legal and regulated there is less crime and less disease. Something to think about.

On a moral level, i'm totally against the act of prostitution, but i also believe in a TRUE separation of church and state, and there's no legal reason that i can think of for why it shouldn't be allowed.

Just had another though...don't you think that by legalizing prostitution, we would be demoralizing our country? Than again, I guess there are other countries where polygamy, prostitution and drugs are legal.

Absolutely. I mean, I know that show "Cathouse" on HBO only shows some of what goes on. But those ladies get tested for diseases monthly. It's run very professionally and safely.
I think that would be much better than what's going on today.

Are there any BIG cities that actually have it legalized, though?
I always thought that the counties in NV that did legalize it (it's NOT legal in all of NV!) were much smaller, less populated ones... which would likely have less crime anyway...

Both are abuses to your body, chosen abuses, but abuses. Having sex as a 'career' is not safe. Who's to say it will be safe because they're tested? Are all the clients tested? It's takes one slip up to get an STD, which could be fatal.
Giving it a legal name makes it seem like its ok, when it's not and i don't think it will ever be totally safe for the parties involved.

Playing devils advocate here....You might no want your daughter to be a prositute BUT if she chooses to do that profession, shouldn't she be able to be safe while doing it???
No one WANTS their children to have a profession like that but lets face it....someone's child does do it....

But I can say the bunny ranch in Nevada takes crazy precautions. They get tested and checked out like weekly or monthly.

To be honest, I think we should. Alcohol isn't good for our bodies, yet it's legal.
Fast food is bad for our bodies, yet that's legal too. (and according to some just as addicitive as drugs)
So why not make drugs legal? If it's regulated it can be taxed creating billions in revenue. Not to mention, with regulation we stand a better chance of keeping it off the streets and away from our kids.
You don't see too many teenagers in bars these days...
Cannabis has proven healing qualities to it. Why shouldn't we take advantage of it?

No because then even more girls and women who are abused and have nowhere to turn will go towards prostitution. No woman who did not occur some sort of trauma growing up becomes a hooker. It's degrading and demoralizing.
