I would get off it at least 3 months before you and DH want to start trying.
I stayed on it until the month before we wanted to try and now we've been trying for 3 months.

Lord help us Kathleen, we will have a new generation of the Nassau County YRs way sooner than I can handle it!
Good luck and yes, I would go off now to allow your body to self-regulate. You can always use other means of birth control until you are ready.

Welcome to the world of TTC preparation! I think that you should come off BCP especially if you are going to TTC in the summer. It will give your body a chance to regulate & also give you a chance to learn more about your cycles & this way when the time comes, it isn't a guessing game

I'm in the same boat...DH and I were planning to start TTC around May. I'm currently on my last pack of pills (less than 2 weeks to go!)
my Dr. said I should have at least 1 cycle off the pill before we actively start "trying" so that's what our plan is.

From my own experience with going off the pill 6 months ago, I would suggest going off it around 3 months before you want to start trying just so your body can start regulating and you can see how your cycles are. Good luck!!!!
