need a cheap gift basket theme idea
for our block party every year, each house donates a raffle basket. we save the money we earn and put it toward the next year's party, and we do very well usually. I am having a hard time trying to think of a theme this year, though. Someone is already doing a pool theme, another doing a kid's outdoor toy theme, another doing a wine basket, another doing bath and body works, and another doing an avon-type basket.
any ideas? I was thinking maybe a coffee theme, but that's all I got. Keep in mind that the baskets will be sitting outside for a chunk of the day, so I want to stay away from anything that can melt

Baking (cookie and brownie mixes, etc)
Ice cream sundaes (sprinkles, scooper, cones)
Games (board games, cards, etc)
Movie night (DVDs, popcorn)
Editing to add I meant without the ice cream lol. Just all the fun stuff that goes along with it.

Tea (assorted teas, cups, tea biscuits, a pretty teapot)
Gardening (plant, shovel/trowel, gardening gloves, garden stone)
BBQ (sauces, dry rub, BBQ tools, apron)

Some ideas:
- Summer (bubbles, frisbees, balls, water balloons)
-Movies (pop corn, DVD's or gift card, bunch crunch)
- Board games
- Romantic (candles, massage oils, a bottle of wine)
- Sports (balls, sports store gift card, water bottle, yoga mat)

Lotto tree or bouquet - check out ideas on Pinterest. Use scratch off lotto tickets. Will be inexpensive if you use $1 scratch offs. Can add in some bigger ones, depending on budget. This is always popular with the school auction.
Picnic - Picnic hamper or cooler bag, maybe outdoor plates/utensils, small gift card to local deli or bagel place.
Arts/crafts for kids or scrapbooking for adults.
Non perishable gourmet food basket - get stuff from Trader Joe's like crackers, jams, teas, etc.
Cooking - cookbook and cooking utensils
Accessories - costume jewelry, scarf, sunglasses, bag, etc.
Beach - cute beach bag, beach towels, magazine, sunscreen,
Wrapping paper, cards, wrapping supplies (scissors, tape, ribbon)

I agree with this idea. From my experience, this is always the type of basket that sells the most raffles. Every fundraiser I've hosted or volunteered at, it's always the one with the most tickets. I think people like the idea that one of the scratch-offs could be a huge winner.

Lotto and liquor baskets always do well.
In addition to what's already been posted:
Baking basket with cookie sheets, mixing bowl, spoons, spatula, cake, cookie, brownie mixes
Pasta basket with various boxes of pasta, different types of jar sauces, olive oil, etc.
Pokemon basket
Shopkins basket
Car Wash bucket with car soap, sponges, rags, armorall.

I just did a jello shot basket for our school fundraiser - flavored vodkas with corresponding jells and those plastic shot cups. Big hit!

One of the neighbors is doing one with some money we had in our block party fund
