Every morning I go get my kids lunch a small mini bagel w/ cream cheese and for my other child I get roast-beef on a roll w/ lettuce and mayo ...... but I ALWAYS say only 2 slices of meat ( its for a kid he could never get a typical sandwich in his mouth) anyway it always came to $4.00 ........ today a different woman helped and she changed me 6.25 for just the sandwich I questioned her and she said I will discount you today but it doesn't matter if we put one or 5 slices it's the same price!!!! Was I wrong to be annoyed

She can't be right. They charge a different price for 1 egg vs 2 eggs. Cheese is extra. Of course it matters how much meat they put on. If she's going to charge like that, I guess you can buy an extra roll and split the meat up into two sanwiches. If she isn't the owner, I would ask her to check with the owner about the price.

I think a sandwich is the same price no matter how much meat you put in it. That is the price of the sandwich BUT I think because you are a regular and get the same way every day they probably charge you less. The woman is new and probably didn't know you were getting a "discount" so she charged you what she would charge anyone else.

Speak to the owner. Same thing used to happen to me at a deli. I would get the same thing every single time : egg whites with turkey spinach and mushrooms. I would get charged anywhere from 3.25 to 7$!!! It was the same person who was making my breakfast and charging me. I spoke up once but pricing kept changing so I stopped going.

I think it prob does not matter how much meat is on the sandwich they charge per sandwich, but ask as other posted. Perhaps they can change the price

I don't think so. Our deli doesn't have it listed but I have heard other people ordering children's sandwiches and they are less meat and less money. She probably just didn't know.

Delis by me charge the same per sandwich no matter how much is on it. Just make it yourself.

I don't think you were being annoying. I would've questioned it too. And like a PP said, I feel like less meat should cost less.

It shouldn't cost the same though.
Cold cuts are sold by the pound. If they are using less meat they should be charging less. It's costing them less, it should cost you less.

When you go to a restaurant a kid's meal is cheaper. Why? Smaller portion size.

IMO it's ridiculous and I'd just buy a pound of roast beef and make a sandwich each day.

When I first read your post I thought you should be getting charged less since it’s only 2 slices vs. let’s say 15. Then I asked my husband who owns a deli and he disagreed. He said, do you go to McDonald’s and say there are too many fries in a ‘small’ so you only want half and expect to pay less? I suppose this is how business’ are looking at it?

I can see why they would charge the same amount. It's a prepared sandwich, not a weighted serving of deli meat.

Imagine how slowly the line would move if everyone argued for a lower price because they requested a little less of something.

That said, they need to be consistent. Anything else is bad business.

You weren't being annoying. You go in and get the same exact thing daily and have always been charged the same price. I would have definitely asked why I was being charged $2 more than i was normally charged.

The deli by me offers a kid sized sandwich which is cheaper $3-$4 compared to $6+.
